Dr. Christopher Jason Chittum, MD

I have had 2 neck surgeries 1shunt surgery which I will say he saved my life! I have been seeing Dr Chittum since 2007. He is a remarkable surgeon & I wouldn’t want any other Dr to preform the type of surgeries I have had. TheOffice is always friendly even His nurse practitioner Jennifer Turner is absolutely fantastic.. I have also seen other Dr’s in this practice & can not complain about none of them.

Excellent doctor. Very thorough and explains conditions well. Would highly recommend him! Very pleased with his staff and willingness to help in an acute back situation. He and staff respond to messages left at office in a very timely manner. Very pleased and feel they have been able to quickly respond to my problem and quickly schedule needed tests to address my problem .

My visit with Dr. Chittum was a nightmare. After introducing himself he asked me what size hat I wore. I replied that I do not wear hats. He replied to the effect that I probably could not find one large enough to fit. Then he proceeded to tell me how unbelievably thick my skull is. He said my head is "massive" and that word is a quote. Perhaps all of these observations might have been ok IF they had anything at all to do with the problem about which I was there to see him. He never made a connection between his comments and my health issue so it's probably safe to say that there is no connection between the size of my head and the subarachnoid hematoma that I have. We visited at least 20 minutes and he may have spoken 5 minutes about the hematoma. When speaking about the size of my head, he spoke in a very, very ridiculing, condescending tone--very much like a bully!!

He was supposed to remove old hardware from previous surgery (2012), but neglected to do so.

DR. CHITTUM DID SURGERY ON MY NECK 7-21-2021. AFTER THAT I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO EVEN TALK TO HIM FACE TO FACE OR EVEN ON THE PHONE. USALLY THE DR. WILL COME TALK TO YOU AFTER HE DOES YOUR SURGERY. A APPOINTMENT WAS SET FOR 2 WEEKS AFTER MY SURGERY ON AUG. 4th TO SEE A NP JENNIFER TURNER. SHE CAME IN THE ROOM AND STAYED 5 TO 6 FOOT BACK FROM ME AND NEVER EVEN CAME OVER CLOSE ENOUGH TO LOOK AT THE INCISION ON MY NECK. ALL SHE TOLD ME I NEED TO START PHYSICAL THERAPY . SHE COULD HAVE TOLD ME OVER THE PHONE AND I WOULD NOT OF HAD TO DRIVE ALL THE WAY ACCROSS TOWN AND WASTE MY TIME AND GAS. I AM VERY DISSAPOINTED THAT I HAVN'T EVEN BEEN ABLE TO SEE OR TALK TO DR. CHITTUM SINCE MY SURGERY. I CALLED THE OFFICE AND TRIED TO GET AN APPOINTMENT TO SEE HIM AND THE LADY TOLD ME SHE COULD ONLY SET AN OPPOINTMENT A MONTH LATER TO SEE THE NP JENNIFER TURNER AGAIN. SHE SAID SHE COULD TRANSFER ME TO DR. CHITTUMS NURSE. I HAD TO LEAVE A MESSAGE AND I TOLD HER I NEEDED TO GET AN APPOINTMENT TO SEE DR.… CHITTUM BECAUSE I WAS HAVING ALOT OF PAIN AND I WAS HAVING THE SAME PAIN AND PROBLEMS HAD HAD BEFORE THE SURGERY. SHE OR THE DR. HAS NEVER CALLED ME BACK. I AM VERY UPSET BECAUSE I HAVE HAD ABOUT 11 SURGERIES AND EVERY TIME THE DR. SAW ME AFTER THE SURGERY. I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS DR. WILL NOT TAKE TIME TO SEE THE PATIENT HE DID SURGERY ON. IT HAS BEEN 7 WEEKS AND I HAVE NOT YET HEARD FROM THE NURSE OR DR.

Dr Chittum and his associate Dr were very helpful and polite. They said if I needed them to let them know. I appreciate their knowledge.

Was not impressed. In and out in five minutes, ordered an expensive shot to an area which was subsequently discovered by testing NOT to be the problem area. Doing the test first would have given the specific problem area. Couldn't answer my question about why a general steroid pill took the pain away from the area I had problems with, just got a vague response which told me he had no idea at all. Not impressed one bit.

Dr. Chittum and staff were very kind and courteous. With my circumstance, I was able to get a quick appointment, xrays taken and was seen promptly by Dr. Chittum. He was extremely professional, thorough in explaining my xrays and treatment plan. He has fantastic bedside manner and allowed me to express any and all questions and/or concerns. I would highly recommend Dr. Chittum at Carolina Orthopedic & Neurosurgical Associates.

Dr is very informative and I do respect his beliefs. But becomes across as rude and Crude. He did not know me or my circumstances and felt he had a right to JUDGE me, he was mistaken.

Very professional. Dr. Chittum explained a clear explanation of the health issue I had . I would recommend him to whom every needs a surgeon .
