Dr. John Robert Karickhoff, MD

As a attorney who negotiates and drafts complicated business agreements, eyesight was vital to my livelihood. I began experiencing ever enlarging floaters, which reached the point where reading (and driving) was becoming almost impossible. Ophthalmologists "tut-tutted", said nothing could be done, and "live with it". I found Dr. Karickhoff online, further researched and verified his credentials, and contacted his office. After having further tests in Michigan required by Dr. Karickhoff to determine that there were no disqualifying underlying eye problems (and further nay-saying by the ophthalmologist doing those tests), I went to Virginia, and had floaters in both eyes treated. All except one small floater that was too close to the retina for treatment disappeared. That was 15 years ago. Other than one tiny floater that appeared two weeks ago, I have been floater-free. Other reviewers have noted that Dr. Karickhoff is smug, and I would agree. But, I didn't go to him for his… personality; I went to him for his expertise, and am obviously extremely satisfied.

Very disappointed in the results of the laser treatment. Staff was not friendly, and never followed up with my insurance company, and never transferred my records to my personal opthalmologist. No followup with patients. Spent thousands for minimal results.

Arrogant, condescending putz who will happily telly that you should see him, and then after you spend a ton, tell you that there is nothing wrong with your eyes, even though you've been told for decades that you have a floater problem, and can tell that you obviously do. He exhibits other unprofessional behavior as well. Totally unacceptable.

The initial suggestion was MUCH more optimistic than the final results. I am not satisfied with the results at all. In fact if I knew what the results would be, I would have not spent the time and the money on this procedure with this doctor.

Disappointing results. Initial results consistently exaggerated followed by a variety of excuses why - a second floater, not reachable by the laser, resistant to the floater.
