Dr. John David Kayal, MD

I have been Dr K's patient for 14 years now and so are my children. We have come to him with all sorts of problems, from eczema to poison ivy and staph infections. Dr Kayal can look at something and diagnose it right away, and every time he does a biopsy, the pathology reports come back with exactly what he diagnoses us with. Absolutely Brilliant!!!

I went in for a consultation with Dr. Kayal regarding my leg spider veins. I had them treated many times with Laser and they just never budged. I took a chance on Dr. Kayal and I can't be more thrilled! I'm 47 and I swear I've had these things since I was 16...but now...GONE! Love it!!

New to the area and needed a dermatologist. Saw an ad in the Our Town Magazine for this practice and decided to give them a try and I was impressed! The scheduler was very customer friendly and even asked if I needed directions after I told him I was new to the area, from the time I enter their new building, I felt at ease in knowing that my skin issue would be taken care of. Everyone smiled and greeted me in the hallway even though it seem very busy, that goes a long way when you are a little nervous about a doctor visit. Highly recommend!!

IMPORTANT!!! The end of 2015 I went to Dr. Kayal because my Dr. was completely booked. I have had over 60 skin cancer surgeries, some major, some minor for three different forms of Skin Cancer - two common and one rare. They found four more Basil Cell on my back. I am an "expert" at Skin Cancer having to deal with it for 24 years now. First diagnosis was age 26. They wanted to do a special procedure called MOHS. Four basil cell on my back and they wanted to do MOHS. MOHS is a costly procedure that is typically done on the face (because of cosmetic outcome). Out of the 60 plus surgeries I have had perhaps 8 maybe 10 were MOHS. Other than the monetary benefit or perhaps lack of skills in removing Basil Cell, I can not justify doing such a procedure. When I spoke to them they would not budge. MOHS or nothing! Upon communicating with them to get calls returned was like pulling teeth. Their number one excuse was they were in the process of relocating and things were not being… communicated properly. Okay...whatever. There is a reason for me saying this noted later in this review. I went ahead and got TWO other professional opinions! TWO. Both agreed that MOHS was too invasive of a procedure for Basil Cell on the back especially since they were mainly superficial basil cell! A skilled professional should be able to remove it straight line with very minimal scarring. My exact thoughts. As it turns out they are still on my back to this day as the second opinion was booked through the end of the year to do surgery and monetarily I could not do it this year. I am going back TODAY to talk to one of the Drs in the office that could not see me originally because they were booked through the end of last year. I called Dr. Kayal yesterday to have them email me my path reports. In light of the horrible communication the end of last year, to make sure they got it right email I repeated my email address FOUR times, spelling it out letter by letter by number, and told them the importance of sending it right away and she said she would immediately. Much like last year, they never did! And guess what, this time they can not use the excuse of relocating the office. I was going to write a review last year but decided against it. My concern was that if he was trying to manipulate me into such a unnecessary procedure I was worried that someone new to skin cancer, who did not know the options or was not as well versed as I am would fall into his monetary trap. After they did not email me yesterday as promised there is no doubt this office is not only unorganized but clearly does not look after the patients best interest. I am not saying NOT to use Dr. Kayal. BUT PLEASE do yourself a favor, before any procedure get a second or third if need be opinion. I have the unfortunate privilege of being able to know what is best for different diagnoses. My heart reaches out to anyone that may be first diagnosed perhaps with a Basil Cell on a part of the body where MOHS is truly not necessary but does not know any better hence taking the Dr.'s suggestion. In a way I am glad they did not email me what I needed yesterday or today because I finally wrote something that should have been written nine months ago.

Had two issues, which I told them when making appointment, but when went to see was told that as a new patient you could only have one problem addressed. Barely seen not examined, and got charged for a level 3 visit

I went to Dr. Kayal's office on the recommendation of one of my clients. The office is wonderful, the staff very friendly and professional and Dr. Kayal seemed very knowledgeable. The reason for my visit was some dark pigment on my forearms and to have skin tags removed. All went well until I got in the shower the next day and discovered the PA had missed a few of the skin tags so later in the day I called to inform them of what had happened only to be told that if I wanted the missed skin tags removed that I would have to pay another fee as the price I paid was only for the ones she removed. I informed her one of them was only an inch from one she removed. There is a certain expectation when you go in for a service that it will be done to completion and if it isn't completed that the provider should make good. The professional should have examined me more carefully to insure all were removed before I left and I should have had an apology at the very least.

Dr Kayal has NO bedside manner. He was arrogant and abrupt, did nothing to ease my discomfort. I paid the full amount I was told at that time. But the WORST part is that I got an extended bill ONE YEAR LATER, with an email stating if I paid now I was qualified for up to 50% off. I called for an explanation and was sent a three page computer printout filled with numbers, totally indecipherable. For a 15 minute procedure, his office charged my insurance company over an extravagant amount, and was now charging me an additional large amount of money. The person I spoke to - Kia I believe her name was, was extremely rude, loud and inconsiderate. She basically threatened me with collections, told me I was not qualified for the 50% off, and refused to tell me why. Her voice level was raised, she over-talked me constantly and was just outlandishly rude. I paid with the 20% off that she allowed me because I can't afford a hit to my credit, but will report their office to my insurance company,… the Better Business Bureau and anyone else who will listen. Oh, and by the way, all I had was a pea sized growth removed from my calf, and to the date I still have an ugly two inch scar to show for it. Really - stay away from this chop shop.

Took my mom to get a tattoo tremoval consultation and on the website it says free consultation. I get there and we are charged $75. Then we go in the room and he says oh we dont have the right laser for you, but we could do an excision and cut it out. Besides all that the staff was not polite at all. After we pointed out the free consultation advertised on their website the receptionist said oh sorry about that. So basically we paid for nothing, I will never return to this doctor. Definitely a rip off.

A friend recommended this doctor and I was very pleased. There was nothing I could complain about. I will continue with this doctor. He is programmed into my phone.

This doctor is terrible. All he wants to do is push cosmetic products. He tells us that acne is not covered by insurance even though he takes my insurance. It sounds like he wants more money up front than the insurance company will pay, thus telling everyone everything is cosmetic. Hopefully no one goes here for skin cancer. The way this shady place is you would probably have to pay for that too.
