John V Kryger, MD

I appreciated the time he took to explain the surgical procedure. I would have liked him to approach informed consent for my son's genital exam slightly differently. I think framing it as a question rather than a statement would have been helpful.

It seemed very explained to me. I liked it. I felt sure of everything that explained to me about my daughter, of the process that would be reviewed, that she needs a surgery just that... a call from them, or rather, continue with the process, but I did like the attention, and I feel very comfortable with them.

It was very welcoming from the beginning and I was so happy to hear my sons needs were fixed!

The appointment I made 3 months ago was not even put into the system correctly so I have no input on how good the Doctor is, I just know they let my son slip through the cracks.

My story is long and too complicated to write, however, Dr. Kryger almost cost my daughter her life recently because of a negligent medical error on his part (and his nurse). Recently, we had care conferences set up over the phone between physicians in three different cities plus myself...he didn't bother to show up for either one and stood all of us up, not once, but TWICE. Didn't even have the courtesy to call and tell any of us why he couldn't show up, especially since this conference was set up in regards to my daughter's very serious urological condition that is life threatening to her. She is medically complex. Dr. Kryger has been our daughter's urologist for eight years and in the last few years he has not seemed like his heart is in his job anymore. Too many medical errors that almost cost my daughter her life. Thanks to American Family Children's Hospital in Madison she is still here. My hope with this review, is that I can save a child from having complications or medical… errors due to Dr. Kryger being, what seems to be, burn out. We are not going back to Dr. Kryger anymore as it is sadly, too risky.

We went to see Dr. Kryger in Milwaukee after a someone had recommended him for complex patients. My impression of him initially was that he was in fact a caring and knowledgeable urologist, however my impression changed quickly, as he would not respond to e-mails from my daughter's physicians regarding treatment for my daughter's complex UTI's. He also refused to order a test that my daughter and her other physicians felt she needed considering her chronic and complex UTI's. Thank God for the physicians that believed in me. Those physicians ordered the test I have been fighting for years to get, and GUESS WHAT? It showed my daughter has grade four urinary reflux. Although, he said it was only a grade one, and then changed his mind and said VUR 2-3. He also, went on to humiliate me in progress notes to other physicians. Thankfully I have a respectful reputation to many of my daughter's 15 specialists and he just made himself look like a jerk. I believe he is a good surgeon, but I… don't work with physicians that don't work as a team with parents. That is very disrespectful. Respect is earned, not given.

We couldn't have asked for a better experience in dealing with our infants refluxing condition. We were immediately at eased with Dr Kryger and his staff. As far as a long waiting time, if you don't expect a wait at a doctors office there's something wrong. What really matters is that he is extrememly knowledgable about her condition and keeps us very informed at all times. I've had many instances of needing to correspond with Dr Kryger by email and he has responded to me within 24 hrs, everytime. Given his load, I find that very committed and very impressive.

Wonderful and caring physician. My interactions with him couldn't have been better with much knowledge and time given to me.

Disliked this physician because not very nice with staff members, or patients. He picks and chooses which patients to be nice to. Very poor office visits and a horrible hospital experience....made me seem to look like a fool in front of all other doctors and nurses including psych. Come to find out, 3 bacterial kidney infections, 2 could of turned septic and ended up staying in the hospital for a week more changing antibiotics every hour. Was given a whole new team of wonderful doctors, and I am so blessed that they were there. But overall I think he is decent when it comes to the medical part but bedside manner is not always there.....you have to make sure your on his good side.
