Saw this doctor for four months, every two weeks. He says that he tries to focus on positive aspects of patients' lives to help them cope but he ended up talking more about himself and his frustrations with the modern world during our visits than about my mental health and my life. I started to realize that his "positive focus" was just a fancy way to have conversation for an hour. (Side note: at one point he also left the gas on after making me coffee while I was in the apartment. So be careful to check for gas smells for yours and his safety if you go to him.) Finally, I found other doctors and I told him I needed to see another doctor who focused specifically on my particular diagnosis while at the last appointment. I had already paid him my co-pays (cash or check only), but at that appointment he complained that my insurance hasn't paid him yet - they told him he submitted the claims too late. I tried to find out more and said I would call them. He never gave me more information.… After I set up an appointment with another doctor, I called him to let him know and to cancel our sessions. He said, "your insurance has paid me nothing, goodbye!" And hung up on me. It was shockingly rude. I still plan to call my insurance to try to get his payments for him, but I don't recommend dealing with this doctor. He didn't help me mentally, (I know more about him than he of me), and rudeness/disrespect is not a quality you should ever accept from your physicians.
