Dr. John Tracy Mahan, MD

I really liked dr mahan However it’s like he just felll off the earth. One day he is my dr and next thing I know I am referred to a another dr and all of his patients were. What happened to him. Does anyone know.

He has done several surgeries in the last 11months,and he has always listen to me and taken very good care of me

Dr.Mahan has done 2 back surgeries on my brother..We really like him..Dr.Mahan has a great bedside manner..I would recommend him..

I have had multiple surgeries with Dr. Mahan due to several injuries. He gave me his cell phone number so I could call anytime. I was placed in a chair in one ER and I was in horrible pain. I texted Dr. Mahan and he called the ER and demanded that I be placed in a bed, not a chair, until he could get there. Good thing since I had a broken back. He always listens and keeps my family informed during surgeries. Highly recommend. I trust him with my life.

He really never cared about me as a patient. I had a compression fracture of my vertebrae and the first time I went in to see him he gave me a prescription for 90 oxycodone and told me to come back in a month. My husband had to ask if he was going to do another MRI and he said sure. So I had an MRI and went back to see him in a month. The report said I still had excessive edema and could further damage if I started physical therapy. So he told me he could give me more pain meds and come back in a month. I asked him about a possible bone scan and he said sure so I had that done. I went back in a month and told him I was still in a lot of pain and he said well it should be healed by now so you can stop wearing your brace and go back to normal. I asked him about physical therapy since he had said I would need it and he just told me to do some core exercises and it would be good enough. I told him I was still in a lot of pain and he offered to give me more oxycodone. He is the biggest… farce of a doctor I have ever been to in all my life. What a complete waste of my time. DO NOT GO TO THIS GUY!!

I really like Dr. Mahan. He's very friendly and he listens to what I have to say. I have already had surgeries and may need another one.He suggested other things to try and suggested another surgery be a last resort when he could have just made his money and moved on. I appreciate that. Whoever answers the phone there acts like they are doing you a huge favor though. Been put on hold a lot for more than 10 minutes. I know this because I call on my break from work and have had to hang up several times. I still would very much recommend Dr. Mahan though. He is my second back surgeon and I would recommend him 100% over my last one. The difference is night and day.
