Dr. John Thomas Mcmahan, MD

I wish there is no star to give to John T McMahan Northwestern Nasal + Sinus and his team. This doctor was threading me for over 2 years. When I started I had appointments every two weeks, after a half year one appointment per month. I was eating so many antibiotics and steroids that my skin was very bad. I have even got very itchy rush all over my body. During these two years I was taking antibiotics almost every day. (With maybe 1 or 2 weeks break) steroids and other drugs/nasal spray all the time. His idea was to threat my nasal polyps. So he started with antibiotics that didn't help. He was making me the CT scans saying that polyps getting smaller after his treatment. Then he told me that I need surgery and so we did. After surgery he said my nasal polyps are growing back so he put me on antibiotics for another year. (I went during that treatment to do my regular check up and my doctor was very surprise about how many antibiotics and steroids I am taking). She only mentions… something to my understanding that I have very good insurance that pays for all that CT scans, surgery and treatment. (I had 11 CT scans during 2 years visits in John T McMahan office). I understood that these 2 years I was only using by this doctor to make money, because I didn't feel any better and he said that I will need another surgery. I had many side effects after taking so many antibiotics. My skin was horrible: my face was covered with pimples and very bad cold sores as never before. I had fungus in my feminine areas. I STILL HAVE COUGH AND STUFFY NOSE. So, I stopped visiting John T McMahan. I give break to myself and try to recover after that crazy time and treatment. I was still coughing and after some time I went to other doctor and I told him about last 2 years of eating so many steroids and antibiotic, CT scans, surgery, etc.. He checked me and prescribed me inhalers and said that I have asthma. I went to one more doctor that told me to avoid drinking cold water, eating cold food or ice cream because that making me worst (coughing and stuffy nose). Right now, I am using inhaler (during the cold winter season) and I am feeling very good. During the summer I am not taking anything and I feel good as long as I am not eating ice cream or drinking cold water. I am starting to cough after being cold or eating cold food, so I avoid that. I am very sensitive to cold, especially for the air condition that I use in the car or when I go to cold grocery store during the summer. I always care sweater with me. It is hard to avoid cold during the winter in Chicago so I use inhalers during the wintertime. I also went to other holistic doctor try to recover and bring my organism back to health. So, I rebuild my bacterial flora, and I don't have any fungus in my body or pimples, or cold sore on my face anymore. I use very natural light medicine first when I have first symptoms. I tried homeopathic and Chinese medicine and it is very helpful and not harmful and without side effect. For the light coughing I use homeopathic or Chinese medicine and for bed coughing I use my inhalers. I wish to see my current asthma doctor at first instead of John T McMahan who is only care about making money. He shouldn't be calling a doctor, but rather a CT scan money maker. I really don't understand how he can prescribe so many drugs to me when he saw that it doesn't help. Also the CT scans this is the biggest making money scanner in his office, in addition you can lose your health in his CT scans too (learn about side effect). The ladies from John T McMahan office were very nice when the insurance was covering everything and when I had best insurance, but when I changed my insurance they were totally different, not smiling and chatting with me as before, but bothering me only about the payments with totally different attitude. Please stay away from him if you want to be healthy because he can simply destroy your immunity systems and make you to be sick for other diseases. Also he can empty your bank account very fast ?

I have ongoing issues ear and sinus issues, so I've seen ENT doctors all over the world. I've dealt with all sorts of offices. The best way to describe this office is bill cramming. Every time, the doctor charges hundreds of dollars to use a tool to look in my nose to tell me I am congested. On one visit, he prescribed 5 meds, 3 of which I had tried previously. When I came back, the doctor charged hundreds of dollars to use a tool to look in my nose to tell me I was still congested. I'm still getting odd bill and charges from this office months later. Every other doctor I've been to before or after looks in my nose without an additional cost. Some even used the fancy light. I asked them to let me know before they were going charge me for using any tools and they got huffy and refused.

think carefully before visiting him. He doesn't care much about your feeling while doing "treatment", he gave you medicine and the medicine made my ear worse.

Thank you so much Dr. McMahan. The amount of time and care you provides during every visit is amazing.My severe sinus infection is totally healed upon 1 month treatment. What a relief.

For years of looking for best ENT in my local town I have meet a friend who recommended that I have to look for an ENT specialist for my condition ultimately, this led me to Dr. Mc.Mahan I can't say too much about this doctor. He listens to what you say, and makes his own evaluation. He is very conservative about surgery, and ultimately he did recommend sinus surgery for me. He uses the latest equipment a There is such a world of difference between Dr. McMahan and all the other ENT's I have meet .

I am very happy on how my surgery went. Dr. John McMahan answered every question I had and his staff. Everyone was very nice and business like. I would definitely refer anyone who has any nasal problems to Dr. McMahan and his staff.

I would highly recommend Dr. McMahan. He spends time with you to get a complete understanding of why you are there. He has a course of action and explains it, and I felt when I left his office that he cares about me getting well and is going to work to make that happen.

The staff at Northwestern Nasal and Sinus were pleasant, helpful, and knowledgeable. Dr. McMahan diagnosed me quickly and within a few weeks I was already feeling better. great experience.

My experience with Dr. McMahan was very positive. So positive that I have told more than a few of my friends that Dr. McMahan is a very good doctor and what a great experience I had under his care. I will continue recommending him and his practice. Especially enjoyed Tracy and Sonya.

I feel that Dr. John McMahan is an excellent doctor with much knowledge under his belt!! He takes much time to try and understand a patients problem.
