Dr. John Louis Michaelos, MD

First visit was good and I gave him glowing review. BIG MISTAKE! Had numerous imaging tests over course of a year yet he and his retina specialist Dr. Oren Plous missed my most serious eye condition Wet Macular Degeneration. Even though I kept complaining about a dark spot in my central vision and increasing blurry vision, he blamed it on posterior capsular opacification and a Weise Ring. My new retina specialist does not know how a competent eye doctor could have missed such a serious disease that even optometrists can diagnose. As a result of the missed diagnoses I now have permanent scars that can`t be cured even though my new doctor has started me on eye injections. My new doctor showed me my images. Dr. Michaelos refuses to let me have or see my images. HIs staff has been very rude. Maybe they do not want me to see the images because they are trying to hide their mistake?

This was my first visit to his office. After visiting another eye clinic I was very nervous. The staff made me feel at ease immediately. I was very impressed with their covid sanitation. The exam was more thorough than I had at the other well known eye clinic. Dr. John Michaelos was very soft spoken and gentle. He explained my condition very thoroughly which is more than the other clinic did. He addressed all my concerns with great empathy. He is a very compassionate and great doctor and I have enough confidence in him to do my cataract surgery when he feels the inflammation in my eyes has cleared up enough for the surgery to be safe.

Dr. Michaelos is arrogant & money hungry. He'll tell you things that are wrong when in fact they are not. All he does is push surgeries, which he jacked mine up & then won't admit to his mistakes. The turn over rate & moral is horrible at the office. I was once sent home in the middle of a test because an employee wanted to go to lunch ( she actually said this) . Do yourself a favor & stay far away from this place & do not allow your older family members to go there alone because they'll be taken advantage of. The current Dr. I am seeing is appalled at all the screw ups John has had.

Had an appointment some time ago. I had laser on my right eye. I STILL CAN'T see properly. Follow up visit and I quote "that's because you got the cheaper surgery." How dare you Michalos! I still can see. You put the wrong size in my eye. Horrible situation. I can't even have it fixed. You ruined my eyesight. Elaine Iafe

All appointments are two or more hours long. And all you do is wait wait and more wait.

This doctor claimed I had a serious eye condition (something different from the condition I went in for) and then tried to rush me in for laser surgeries the following week without fully explaining the situation to me or what to expect. I got a second opinion from a specialist in that condition and was informed that Dr. Michaelos' diagnosis was not at all correct. I was also told to stop taking the prescriptions he had prescribed for my other condition. Can't say I recommend. There was also a long wait, and he seemed rushed and forgot to write one of my prescriptions.

Unprofessional and unethical. Erases most poor reviews, like mine. Tries to cover up his surgical mistakes. Very non-communicative. Runs assembly line surgeries. Very apathetic. Another follow-up opthalmalogist said he did very poor and disgraceful surgery that almost blinded my wife after three separate surgeries, on what he claimed was very basic surgery. The follow-up doctor further said that he was ashamed at some of the doctors in his profession. Luckily my wife didn't go back for a 4th surgery. Stay away from this "doctor".

This is a truly genuine doctor, who still does it old school he has taken care of me over the weekends without hesitation I had a serious problem, corneal ulcer and Dr. Michaelos helped me get through this!

Dr. John Michaelos did my eyelid surgery and I have no scars and my eyes look like I was 20 years younger again, even more impressive is I can see better!!

This facility is beautiful, the staff welcome you right away and make your needs feel listened to. Great experience all around.
