Dr. John Thomas Minturn, MD

My mother was just there as a referral, she drove over and hour away, was more than on time to her appointment, and has two insurance cards, and took off work to go to this appointment. She hands the insurance cards over to the receptionist, and they tell her they can't see her because her insurance doesn't list as primary. My mother then proceeds to tell the person my insurance is the primary and my husband's is my secondary. They just tell her sorry we can't see you. We got referred for a REASON!!!! This is her vision here and you are refusing to see her because she has two insurance's. Like come on figure that out and WHY did we not know this was something that needed to be done. You guys may want to give people information before coming and what they need and what needs to be on the insurance card. She has never had this trouble before. Like I said she has two insurances' not like she only had one or NONE. How awful of this place!!!! After reading the reviews though maybe it's for… the best. We will find someone else to take care of this situation.

Unethical! Absolute worst experience. My family has a history of ocular melanoma and I was referred to this doctor. I arrived at my apt and was asked for my ID and insurance card. I did not have a hard copy but I did have the electronic copy with all my information. I was refused to be seen because they only accept a hard copy. I was willing to write down all the information, email them a copy, call to verify benefits but they flat out refused. I have insurance just not the physical card on hand. This doctor only sees patients with my issue on Fridays and is one of the few who specializes in this are in the 3 state area. I explained I am a single mom who had to take off work and drive an hour to this apt. I explained my mother passed away from ocular melanoma and a phone call to the insurance company to verify benefits would solve the problem. They flat out denied treatment because I had no hard copy insurance card. UNETHICAL! No compassion! I have had customer service… reps go the extra mile with something as small as helping me find milk at the grocery store, but this office couldn’t pick up the phone to verify insurance for a potential life saving issue. What happened to do no harm?

Having to wait 2 hours to go back for appointment then wait an hour for the Doctor is uncalled for just because he took a vacation the week before!!!!!!!!!Not happy.

I was referred to Dr. Minturn after receiving a routine eye exam. I was diagnosed by Dr. Minturn with ocular melanoma. I have to agree with another patient who left a review.....HORRIBLE at answering questions. What he does may be routine but it's not routine for his patients. Seems annoyed when you ask questions, and his staff is not helpful AT ALL. And the wait time! They need to learn to schedule appointments. My shortest wait time was 90 minutes. Then I was able to spend FIVE minutes with the doctor who seemed in a hurry. Not good!

He is an absolutely an outstanding retinologist.

There were so many problems with visiting Dr. Minturn, I would not recommend him to anyone! Four hour wait, office closed while we where there. Sent for surgery at 9am, surgery not done until 730pm. Rude nurse. Refusal for records... and more. He comes across as a narcissist and does not answer questions well. He may be a great surgeon but he even argued with the anesthesiologist! Maybe he never learned how to relate to people.... sad.

Dr. Minturn is the most professional and knowledgeable doctor I have ever visited.
