Dr. John M Mulawka, DO

I feel the need to warn all new parents. BEWARE! I love love love the other doctors at the practice. Dr Mulawka is terrible. He pressured me and sold me on having my newborns tongue tie clipped even though the SUPERVISOR OF PEDIATRICS at Childrens told me my son did not need it. In addition to this, he looked at my sons circumcision and said “WHOA what did they do to your circumcision buddy?” And said in a nasty tone “next time you have a baby and if you have a boy, bring him to me for his circumcision”. I would never EVER do that, their office isn’t sterile enough for it and I could not listen to screams down the hall. No thank you. He is the first one to push medical procedures because of money. Stand up for your child and get a second opinion if he’s recommending something. 99% of the time your child does not need it. I refuse to see him.

This lady doctor (wish I had her name for this review) white lady glasses blonde hair came in the room with an attitude because I choose not to vaccinate my baby.then she wanted my baby to take vitamin D because 'most' breastfed babies do lack it. Not all babies lack it and if given too much vitamin D there is side effects so I asked for my baby daughter to be tested for it 8n order to know for sure that she needs it so she dont get overdosed with it..I was talked down to and told I'm neglecting my baby for not listening to this woman and when I stood firm on wanting my baby tested before taking meds she told me she's not dealing with my attitude and refused to see me and as she walked out of the room she also said my babies is underweight!!! Mind u my babies weighed out at 13 and a half pounds and the average weight for a 5 month old is 15 pounds! So if my babie is underweight for being a pound and a half under the average weight then a baby weighting a pound and a half OVER the 15… pound average must mean the baby is obese..I've been going to John's office on and off for 16 years and this was the first time I had any bad experience..I was also told not to return to any of John's offices over standing my ground and asking for my baby to be tested before nefore being put on meds..u shud never give a baby meds without checking to see if they need it first bcuz like I said too much vitamin D has nasty side effects.i shunt have to school a doctor on this when they went to college and shud be smart enough to figure this stuff out on their own and if not dont get mad when mama bear corrects u

misdiganosed my 6 month old daughter 4 times in one week. Doesnt seem to care much about any concerns the parents may have about the child(ren).

I love derby peds they are all so great with both my kids and they are pro breastfeeding i would highly recommend this office

I would recommend this practice to everyone. We always get a sick appointment the day that we call. We even have the option to go to any 3 of there locations. This option is great exspecially when we need a certain time.

My daughter has been going to Dr. Mulawka for years! Always friendly and knowledgeable. Great staff and happy all around. As taking my daughter for over 9 years and always happy.

Very good pediatrician. He is not quick to prescribe antibiotics, which is a good thing. Always shows concern and listens to what the parent has to say.

I love the small office in Derby. They have great staff there that works very hard for the volume of patients they see. We like everyone very much and we are happy with the Dr. Mulawka and PA Betsy Strack. The Nurses are always helpful with my questions and the receptionist has helped me with getting health insurance when we had a lapse. They are a great practice all together!

When my son began going to Dr. Mulawka's office we were thrilled. It was nearby and he had a kind and caring manner about him. It is unfortunate that he has hired such rude people to work for him. My son had been very sick and my husband and I were going through an insurance issue at the time. We were taking care of it but it was a long process. Mulawka's receptionist was extremely rude and aired my business in front of many people. She also told me that I should not be allowed "to pass go but obviously" my son is sick so she was "kind" enough to allow me into see the doctor. I was mortified and so stressed and worried about my son. I could not believe that the doctor would allow that to happen in his office. We tried switching to the S.C. office but it was just not working for us. Thank goodness all insurance issues are fixed and my son now goes to a wonderful pediatrician!!!! There should be a better screening process when hiring certian people.
