Dr. John Martin Nelson, MD

The doctor was fine and attentive one minute and the next became agitated and left the room. Very unprofessional behavior and did not help to resolve the ongoing pain. There is a reason why he is so easy to get an appointment with, do yourself a favor and wait for another orthopedist.

Same horrible demeanor from 12 years ago.

I went to Dr. Nelson assuming he was going to schedule me with a pain management doctor to get another epidural. I came with all my records and my MRI showing I have a pinched nerve and sciatica. He lifted my bad leg really fast and it was excruciating. My primary care doctor put me on prednisone so my pain was kept at bay. I was in pain when I left dr. Nelson. Also he printed me out a list of pain management doctors that are very far away from New Rochelle and not in my insurance network. I have a computer I could’ve done that myself. A waste of time and a waste of a $35 copayment .

My daughter has had chronic back pain for nearly a year. She came in for X-rays and Dr. Nelson glanced at the images and said “she’s fine”. I tried to tell him that it’s muscular and he said for her to stretch and take an Advil. Duh. That’s what we’ve been doing and it hasn’t worked. I guess their passing out medical degrees to anyone! I returned for a second visit after my daughter’s peditrician was concerned that the pain had not subsided in months and suggested she get a second set of updated X-rays and have Dr. Nelson order an MRI. After making her raise her arms and look to the left and right he determined again, she was fine and to continue living on Advil and Aleve. Despite the fact the drug information says she is too small and should not take for longer than 7 days. No X-rays were taken, my daughter is still in pain, and I had to argue for him to order an MRI which is what should have been done at the first appointment. So, if you like wasting your time and money and enjoy… getting terrible treatment, be sure to make an appointment.

He is a huge AS*H*LE

Dr. Nelson misdiagnosed both my daughters. There are now being seen by a professional sports doctor who actually diagnosed them with a cause for there pain and are treating them properly. And not telling my Daughter it may be time to retire.

Not thoughtful, spends no time explaining anything He works with children he really should be more equipped for dealing with a young population and their often worried-sick parents

This guy spent 39 seconds with me and billed me 1500....oh and got the diagnosis wrong on second opinion

If you are using workman's comp, don't go to this guy. I got hurt at work, and went to this guy after a friend told me he was a good doctor. The office staff was extremely rude. I did not know that i had to go under workman's comp, and proceeded to hand in my regular insurance. They told me to leave, unless i could provide the workman's comp info. Since i had a broken foot, it was difficult to walk, so i called work and got the info. After waiting a while, the doctor saw me and was very condescending. He treated me like some kind of moron, while being extremely nice to my 18 year old daughter. He dismissed my shoulder injury as nothing, even though i could not move my arm. On my second visit, he x-rayed my shoulder, told me nothing was wrong, and said he would give me an anti-inflamatory for it. The anti-inflamatory was codeine. i asked him for a handicap pass for work, but he refused until I explained that I had to go down 3 flights of steps on crutches to get into work. … I switched doctors after that.. and ended up with shoulder surgery as my tendons were torn, some were shredded and had to have my bone shaved. I wouldn't take my dog to him or even a pet fish.

For 5 months my 18 yr old suffered with pain in his right hand. He didn't take the time out to "LOOK" at him after waiting for 2 hours in the waiting room, Dr. Nelson flew in then flew out..We were treated horribly by the staff and I had to resort to going to a REAL orthopedic doctor who finally got to the bottom of my son's injury. Never again.. I would think twice before going to Cristofaro/Nelson!!! NEVER!!
