My daughter & I took my Grandson (30y/o) to numerous eye/retinal specialist. He was going blind, was misdiagnosed & given very expensive treatment (shots in the eye) unnecessarily by another doctor for almost 6 months. We took him to several doctors and still no diagnosis until we found Dr. Nordlund. Dr. Nordlund performed his own testing but was confused why my Grandson was going blind because his test revealed his vision should be perfect. The very next day Dr. Nordlund PERSONALLY called me & suggested genetic testing because he suspected Leber's disease (LHON) might be the issue. He took the time after we left and during the night to research. His efforts brought me to tears because someone was finally taking this seriously for my Grandson. Because Dr. Nordlund took this extra step we did get the diagnosis of Leber's Disease and because of this, my Grandson is starting clinical trials that he would not have qualified for if he had this condition for a year or more. Beside the atmosphere of the office, the entire staff is very professional and sensitive to one's needs.Dr. Nordlund is the only doctor in the Williamsburg area that specializes in ophthalmology services and he has a busy office with patients. I began seeing Dr Nordlund after a severe eye injury, and he is arguably the best doctor I have ever personally used. Examination procedures are extremely thorough. A slight wait upon arrival is completely worth the very thorough treatment you receive when seen. In the case of my injury, the staff followed up several times.
