Dr. John Elwood Paes, DO

I was seeing Dr John Paes, DO for my possible diagnosis, still not sure, of hyperthryroidism with graves disease through Central Ohio Primary Care. I knew from the first visit the patient/provider relationship wasn't going to mesh. I had asked him if he could request a reverse T3 test based on my research of hyperthryroidism with the normal tests that are taken. He just came out and said "NO! I don't order tests that patients request! Besides that test is unnecessary!" Like really? You're not paying out your pocket for the test. It just so happens the reason he didn't order the reverse T3 is because he doesn't know how to interpret the results. Also, he was so quick to push the popular drug that's prescribe for this issue on me (this website won't let me tell you the drug name) told me upfront my natural remedies wouldn't work. As if they teach about natural remedies in med school. We all know they don't. He also dismissed me from coming back to his practice because I left his office… after he kept me waiting in the room for over an hour with no notification from his staff that he was running behind. I had another appointment to go to. I tried to reschedule but his visits were scheduled months out. By the time I would have seen him my insurance would have cancelled. Now if you're 15 mins late to the visit you have to reschedule and pay a no show fee. He's late and you're just supposed to accept it! NO! I wouldn't recommend anyone to go see this doctor for their endocrinology issues. He thinks what he says goes. Either you do what he says or he dismisses you from coming back to his office. He doesn't like the patients advocating for themselves because he thinks what he says is always right. Go find another doctor!

I have found Dr. Paes very knowledgeable and his bedside manners amazing. He’s very professional, thorough and personable. I’m looking forward to a long patient/doctor relationship. Very hopeful that I will be on my road to better health and my choices.

Dr Paes is amazing. He not only treats the disease but the human. He truly cares about his patients. I've been with him for over 15 years and wish he could be my primary physician.

Dr. Paes is a caring physician that is extremely brilliant and caring. I have been his patient for approximately 12 years. Upon retirement my husband and I moved. I continue to see Dr. Paes in spite of the distance.

Dr Paes exam was very thorough. He explained all options so I could understand. I am confident with Dr Paes.

I have been seeing Dr Paes for over 6 years and my heath is so much better! With Dr Paes guidance I feel great my A1C is better and I’m taking less medication and have better overall health. I haven’t felt this good since before I developed diabetes! LT

In the fast degrading world of healthcare today, Dr. Paes is the gold standard. I wish I there were more doctors like him. Very thorough, intelligent, thoughtful, kind, unhurried, accessible…a rare one indeed.

I have a thyroid biopsy 2/24/2023 Dr. Paes is caring, very professional, explained every detail and let me know what he was doing as he performed biopsy. I understand why he's a 5 star doctor.
