Dr. John Breard

Dr. John Breard was referred to me by Dr. Sue at the Boswell Banner MD Anderson Center on July 9th, 2025 as a spot was found on my lung during a routine cancer scan In May of 2025. I was told that I had to have a lung function test to see if I was a candidate for lung surgery. The test was completed on July 15th. I met with Dr. Breard on July 31st to discuss my options. He was very open and honest with me in discussing what he thought was the best procedure. It just so happened that this was an upper right lobectomy. He was very thorough describing the procedure to me and actually answered all of my questions – he even pulled out a piece of paper and drew a picture of what he was talking about so I would better understand. As I had a recent robotic bronchoscopy done at the end of June and was diagnosed with non-small cell lung carcinoma but at that time there were no lymph nodes involved. It was decided that the surgery to be done on August 27th. It wasn’t the easiest for Dr.… Breard as he had several challenges as he put it “I missed a few anatomy classes during my development and things were not they way they would have been normally”. Even with the hiccups my body had, the surgery took a little more time and he got everything figured out. I was released to the ICU and after only a day and a half was able to leave the hospital. Dr. John Breard actually saved my life! By his quick response to my medical needs, the cancer was fully removed from my body within less than 60 days from the day of diagnosis and as of the date I walked out of his office 14 days after surgery, my lung was cancer free! Thank you Dr. Breard for being my life saver. Also, thank you to all of his staff at both the office and also at the hospital – you were all very informative, caring, and checked up on me between surgery and the office visit. I am a 67 year old woman and am functioning very well even though it will take a bit to be fully recovered. My prayers go out to you that your caring hands are appreciated by everyone you come in contact with.

Dr Breard and his staff put me at ease on my first visit. Dr Breard explained everything in detail before and after my surgery. I highly recommend Dr Breard to anyone who needs thoracic surgery.

Dr. Breard and his staff are great! I had to have surgery, they were kind, informative. Took me thru how it would go step by step. I’ve had many abdominal surgeries so wasn’t looking forward to the aftermath. I was very pleasantly surprised, I had no discomfort whatsoever. His nurse is Kim is always available for questions and support. His office staff is pleasant and helpful. I would highly recommend Dr. Breard and staff to anyone needing a thoracic surgeon!!

Dr. Breard recently performed my surgery. From my first visit to my post surgery visit, he has just been amazing to work with. He is the complete package. He has great skill, but also very caring and compassionate. He listens to your concerns and addresses them all. He surrounds himself with the best staff. You get consistently excellent treatment. He gave me my life back. I am truly grateful.

Dr Breard was very nice and attentive to my husband and very down to earth. He did a surgical procedure on my husband that was successful. From the scheduling of the surgery to the surgery itself they helped us from start to finish. We saw dr breard today and he was as nice and caring as he could possibly be so if your in need of a great surgeon you will be very happy you selected dr Breard

I went to Dr. Breard for a robotic thymectomy (no thymoma, this was treatment for myasthenia gravis). Dr. Breard sat with me and my fiance and answered all of our questions very patiently during our initial visit. He was very kind and reassuring, and also very thorough in making sure I was physically ready for the procedure. Dr. Breard's PA, Nikita, and nurse practitioner were also very kind and knowledgeable, and available for questions and concerns before and after the surgery. It all went very smoothly, and so has the recovery process. Very grateful for this team and MD Anderson.

Great Care!!!

Unfortunately, I found myself in need of a Thoracic Surgeon. However, the blessing here is that I had the fortunate experience to be in the hands of Dr. John Breard. My cyst in the chest area was in a very precarious position. After consulting with Dr. Breard in the ER, he assured me that the procedure would be safe, as successful as possible and I would be in great hands with a team that cares, provides expertise and knowledge. Dr. Breard spent an enormous amount of time with myself and my family to include the ER doctors on staff. He never made us feel rushed to ask and answer questions and took his time to evaluate and assess my condition. At the surgery consult, I met with his PA, Nikita who was very thorough, professional and compassionate. She spent an incredible amount of time with answering all of our questions and concerns. Dr. Breard also ensured that we were aware of any risks and procedural outcome in a manner that we understood and felt extremely confident in his… hands. The surgery was a success with 100% removal of the cyst and Dr. Breard and Nikita ensured myself and my family I was on my way to recovery. Just a few days afterwards, Nikita called me to check on me and offer any assistance, questions & answers etc... Dr. Breard also took a phone call from me late in the evening as I had a question about the healing process. I've never experienced a surgeon and PA that was so involved with their patients, surgery, recovery and health. Dr. Breard is from all to emulate when it comes to working with their patients and bed side manner. The staff in the ICU, nurses Cecilia and Lisa was also incredibly great. Their attentiveness and care is beyond what anyone can expect. I will be forever grateful for having the opportunity to meet Dr. Breard and Nikita. His expertise is incredible recognized in the industry and his personal touch makes the whole experience a great one. Thank you for being the professional and man you are!
