Dr. John Teig Port, MD

Great orthopedic dr. Really listens to my concerns. But the office is difficult to reach by phone.

Saw Dr. Port about an ankle/foot problem. Had a soft-style lace up brace put on; it was very secure. Within an hour the pain from it was so bad I had to remove it. The intentions were down to my shin bone from it. I took photos, contacted the office and mailed the pictures along with what had happened to them. No response, no followup - nothing! In addition, they wanted PT, my insurance refused. The offered a cash price of $50 a session; I'm on social security currently and told them so. They did not offer a 1x session to explain what I could do myself at home. There has been NO contact at all from the office, the tech, or Dr. Port. Never again.

If you have severe Back Pain and thank of going Dr. Port. Please read this. Dr. Port does not give injection for the back. He will refer you to a anesthesiologist, such as the one that works at Advanced Pain Solution. But not before you have to make a few appointments where he will give you a Rx for your pain. If your pain persist he will order a MRI. The MRI results is sent to Dr. Port's office, but Dr. Port does not read the MRI results. He forms this out to someone else that gives him the report. At that point he refers you to a anesthesiologist, only a few more appointment. After a week or so you get a appointment with the anesthesiologist where you think you will finally get your injection. Not so fast. The anesthesiologist has to evaluate you first. Not give you a injection. You thought you were referred there to get an injection. No No No. Only after a few more appointment you might get your injection. I am still in severe pain waiting for a back injection. Maybe after a few… more appointments. The Doctor's gets richer and Medicare goes broke.

I love love Dr Port and have been going to him for a long time. He is so kind and really cares about his patients. However his office stAff needs a course in professional manorism particularly the girl who answers the phone. She has a sharp tongue and she comes across as clearly hating her job. She is not friendly in the least. Generaly phone contact is the first impression for a patient and if the person on the phone sounds mad and rude it can be a deal breaker for a new patient. I worked in an orthopedic office and I knew our patients name especially the repeat ones. I called today for an appt and she was.so rude to put it softly. She asked if I had ever been .there before AFTER I gave her my name. Make no mistake...she has been there a long time and today I have had it with her rudeness. She is the most monotone person I have ever talked to. I hope some one above her reads this review and perhaps a little education in kindness might go a long way with her since she is the… first contact with a potential patient or an existing one. I have never written a letter like this but today was my day because I was hurting so bad but it didn't phase her one bit. Sorry for the rant. If you are a new patient with Dr Port don't be swayed by his rude receptionist!!

Very 'EMOTIONAL' Doctor

The most positive impact I got from my evaluation with Dr Port was his demeanor, which was simple in communication with me, not a learned person. He gave me a Black man a feeling that he cared about me and not money as the reason for him attending to me. He made it clear to my understanding what was needed and was basically honest.

I've been trying to get authorization for an MRI. Every time I call,the rep would say that the dr needs to make notes in order for the approval to have an MRI for my torn Achilles. Tomorrow will be a week since I've been to see this dr. they keep saying the same old thing. what the heck he take my $272 for an office visit for anyway? Way too much money for office visit for nothing

I have been to several orthopedic surgeons in the Dallas area and all of them wanted to rush me into surgery. Dr. Port was the only one that gave me other options. He gave me supartz injections and I can finally walk with out pain again. He explained that I will eventually need surgery, but I can put it off for several years.
