Dr. John Alton Posey JR., MD

I am someone who analyzes everything. I was recommended to Dr. Posey by one of the best Dr's. in Houston. I am very analytical and generally somewhat critical regarding both Dr's. and staff. I found both to be excellent. I called his nurse with a question and the Dr. Posey returned the call and had all the information I could ask for. His explanation was very thorough. I am very pleased that I found Dr. Posey.

If you are a young female patient, do NOT see this doctor. I was somewhere between 22 and 27 when I went to this doctor for my first annual exam. I did not have any issues, but I did want to get my A1C and cholesterol levels checked. I told him (or at least wrote in my patient history) that I already had my annual well women’s exam a week before this appointment. He pinched my nipples (even though I was not having any issues) “just to make sure I wasn’t having any abnormal discharge,” he said.. I never told him I had any issues with my boobs and he should have known I just had my well women’s exam (because I either told him in person or it was written in my patient history I filled out that day). I never complained to the doctor office about this incident, because I was too embarrassed. Please please please stay away from this doctor if you are a young woman. Thanks.

I have been seeing Dr. Posey for 15 years. He is very thorough with an excellent bedside manner. Since he is affiliated with Methodist Hospital you can be assured of excellent care.

Dr Posey will spend as much time as you need....which could be the reason why is runs late a bit! Very personable doctor.

Waited in excess of 1.5 hrs. As a new patient thought ok maybe he had an emergency. Explained about a minor issue elevated blood pressure. He began to tell stories from his life kept me there 45 minutes. Between stories he asked some medical questions I forgot the name of my present blood pressure med. forgot to bring it in actaully had not been on the med long and just hated the way it made me feel. Left after giving blood etc and got new med. Couple months later applied to Life Insurance I was denied based on a note Dr. Posey made in my chart. His note says I have a memory problem. when I called the office to get what i believe was a simple issue changed they told me that Dr. Posey refused to change anything I could come in and take a memory test. Ok I did just that. Passed with flying colors. and guess what that test has been lost. Stay away from this fellow.

I have been using Dr. Posey for 16 years. He takes the time necessary to explain all of your options with every medical situation.
