I needed a lumbar laminectomy L1 to L4 spine surgery, researched top spine surgeons, and flew to Atlanta, GA to consult and have Dr. Rhee do my lumbar surgery, as your surgeon, not location, is the most important thing to have a great outcome. Right after surgery, all my leg and foot nerve pain went away. I am stable, walking within a week of surgery with minimal lower back pain, which gets better daily with healing, got off pain medication after 2 days, regaining my normal mobility, and I can resume my normal active life. My surgery was done at the excellent Emory University Orthopedic & Spine Surgery Hospital which is a center of excellence. It is staffed with competent medical staff and administration personnel who care about their patients. The Emory Healthcare clinic is also staffed with competent, nice medical professionals, is a well-organized nice medical facility. I am extremely grateful for Dr. Rhee's spinal surgery expertise to have a very successful outcome and I am now… able to regain an active life. When you need spinal surgery you need a spinal surgeon expert. After much suffering... I can’t emphasize that enough, I was given a diagnosis by a top hospital of permanent nerve damage caused by my spine surgery, with scar tissue “as if someone used a hatchet on your back”. Dr. Rhee did a laminectomy. I have spent months bedridden and taking opiates. I just now, after 20 months, can spend half a day sitting or walking. My poor husband and my family have suffered with me. I am unable to bend enough to do common household chores, and have only recently begun to attend to my own personal care. There’s so much more I can say, but I won’t. I am in aqua therapy and fighting to become as strong as possible.

Obviously did not want to help. Said 90 degree pressing in spinal nerves is normal. Also told me no bone growth (failed fusion) was surgeon technique, go talk to my surgeon who did the surgery. This was a second opinion visit. He came so highly recommended but I do not know why. No offer of help. Said go see a neurologist but would not give a name.

I highly recommend Dr. Rhee. He was very clear about everything. I also came out of surgery fine and healed completely with no problems. He visited the room same day after surgery to answer questions, and follow up was easy and positive. I didn't wait long and his staff was great during the whole process.

Wasted 5 months trying to get help for herniated disk. Worst experience of my life. After MRI, CAT scan, epidural he told me: " We can try lamnoplasty or cervical dicetomy: Which would like to try?" That's when I knew I was in the wrong place. IDIOT!
