Dr. John Henry Schmidt, MD

Dr. Schmidt did back surgery on me in 2015 -the first 2 weeks were amazing. After that it was downhill FAST! Felt like an explosion went off in my back - severe pain and muscle spasms. He wouldn't see me just kept prescribing different pills which DID NOTHING. Finally x-rayed and the rods had slipped out of place. Still wouldn't do anything or acknowledge there was anything wrong. I begged for PT - he finally agreed and if it wasn't for my awesome therapist, I don't think I would be walking today. Still severe pain at times, finally a MRI was done which showed metal flakes around the surgery site - at first they thought I had a bone infection b/c the MRI lit up like a Christmas tree. He still DID NOTHING. I ran a fever, was nauseous all the time, couldn't eat much, chilled, just felt drained and weak. A trip to the ER due to severe pain ended me up in the hospital - they refused to release me until someone did something after they looked at the MRI. I had no choice but to… let him redo the surgery. I have 5 terrible scars from that surgery and still intense pain. He was rude, condescending, and totally irresponsible with my care. He needs to retire and move on. Don't let him do surgery on you. After my bad experience, I talked to so many who had terrible outcomes too. I will never be the same and have worked really hard to get to where I am today - which is better but not great. Retire, Dr. Schmidt and stop hurting people.

Dr. Schmidt, in my opinion is the best neurologist on the east coast. He found Tom's ' Lou Gerhigs when all others failed. I will be forever grateful for his knowledge and care!!!!! I will never forget. Never.

I had a very good experience with Dr. Schmidt operated on my spine. My spine had collapsed around all the nerves that go down my spine. He told me before my surgery that 80 percent of the patients that have this done are fine. He opened my back up with like a 2 or 3 inch incision, and I am on the mend! I feel so blessed to have him as my surgeon! He not only is a knowledgeable surgeon,but just an all around good guy. He puts you at ease right from the start,he tells you everything to experience,, and that,to me,is a very important factor.. I will continue to have him as my doctor for whatever comes up. Thank you Dr.Schmidt,for everyt.

Failed to alleviate any of my cervical pain and only contributed to worse pain after his surgical procedure.

About 2 years ago, my mother had very painful sciatica in her leg that was determined to be caused by a cyst on her spine that was pinching her nerve. Dr. Schmidt operated on her for about 45 minutes and only had to make about a one-inch incision on her back to remove the cyst. After leaving the recovery room she was able to walk out of hospital with no pain what so ever and has been pain free ever since.

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND EVEN FOR A DOG. SAT IN OFFICE OVER 2 HOURS FOR NOTHING, CONCEEDED MAN THAT SPENT MAYBE 5 MIN WITH ME. WOULD NOT EVEN FILL OUT PAPE ...
