Dr. John Post Shallcross, MD

Dr. Shallcross performed a file review for my disability insurance claim. He never met me in person, never spoke to me, and yet issued an opinion that contradicted the detailed findings of my treating providers. His report minimized documented postpartum depression and anxiety, and he relied on brief mental status exams while ignoring the functional impairments that made it impossible for me to work during that period. It is deeply concerning that such reviews, made without ever examining the patient, can determine access to critical benefits. Patients should be aware that his involvement may come through insurance companies rather than direct clinical care. My experience was that his review created more harm than help.

Dr. Shallcross responded very quickly to my inquiry for an appointment. He was very easy to talk to and took his time explaining both his tests and the results. I was very pleased with my virtual visit/testing. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Shallcross.

I called him (Dr Shallcross) about my being depressed recently and he said in an abrupt voice that he was NOT my therapist. That’s when I called him back, left a message at 6:13 pm and said that I did not need Saturday’s appointment and everything was taken care of. Sorry ?? but I did not need to be talked to that way. Will go elsewhere next time!

This man was unprofessional from start to finish. I have not received a diagnosis, but already know I can't believe it. He lost my daughter's tests, accused me of writing a different name on the tests, and then said he himself wrote a different name on them -- but that he had located them and not to worry. Worry? I filed a complaint with the state.
