Dr. John Kenneth Shaver

If I had known beforehand that he uses surgical clips, I never would have had a partial thyroidectomy, with him. I would have found a surgeon who doesn't use clips. I thought I was getting tried and true sutures. I had never heard of clips until this man betrayed me by putting pieces of metal, foreign bodies in me without my knowledge. Clips are not needed. Sutures and cauterization work fine. Clips are a money making medical device that are hurting a lot of people. They can cause pain, foreign body sensations, allergy to the metal, irritation, migration, autoimmune/systemic issues. They are not inert, as claimed. They are used because it is faster and easier to clip an artery than it is to suture an artery - so for the surgeon's benefit, not the patients. I asked him to remove these clips. He said, "What if I can't find them?" He can secretly put them in me, but can't remove them? How nice. I have since had 3 removed, but still have 2 or 3 in me. One is lodged up high touching the… side of my esophagus and trachea. Wow! Thanks, Dr. Shaver, for the biggest betrayal of my life. Do no harm? That's laughable. Many people don't even know they have clips in them. Others finally discover them and most are very angry and astonished. It is hard to find a surgeon to remove these torture devices, but there are a select few who are willing to try and help. Clips need to require consent! Stop putting them in people without their knowledge and consent!

I went in to see Dr. Shaver regarding an umbilical hernia that was caused after being pregnant with my second child. I was scheduled for surgery a few months later and just had the surgery two days ago.I’m feeling great and back on my feet on only my second day post op! He is a wonderful doctor with awesome communication skills and answered all my questions and explained everything from my consultation appointment to my surgery day.

I am a sales representative in the operating room and ended up getting an infection which led to an abscess. I hand picked Dr. Shaver and he was incredible all the way through. He is extremely experienced and I am so grateful to this wonderful man.

I went into the emergency room with an absess and he was the one who removed it and performed the surgery. He was exrememly courteous and professional. The follow up was good also although I was not too keen with him looking back side where the infection occurred. I would highly recommend him to anyone and he was not arrogant either like a lot of surgeons may happen to be.

He's the head surgeon of the trauma center at Mission Hospital. You don't get to that level without being top notch. In speaking with quite a few of the RN's there, they had nothing but great words. 6 months later I am still most pleased with my decision. Communicates at your level as well as superb manners. Only words of advice are to double check all administrative tasks that are assigned. Examples are tasks given to the hospital staff.

Dr. Shaver is a great surgeon and Dr. He is superb at laproscopic surgery. He performed a laparoscopic sigmoid colectomy on me and I am doing great. A super Dr. with a great bedside manner. Highly recommend!
