Dr. John Gregory Shearen, MD

I met with Dr. Shearen for a second opinion, and I am glad I did. He listened to my concerns, reviewed my test results (two of which were conflicting), and thoroughly explained my vascular status. He reviewed the possible etiology of my symptoms, available diagnostic tests, treatment options. Very satisfied.

Dr. Shearen performed emergency lung surgery on my husband. He was extremely rude when I asked questions and wouldn't tell me where his office was so I could get paperwork filled out for short term disability. He then put my husband on no restrictions after the surgery.He works for a garage door company and couldn't possibly lift right after surgery. His office filled out paperwork to allow for restrictions but that was another step during a horribly stressful time.

Dr Shearen provided excellent care before and after he did my husband's surgery. He checked in every day and had "good bedside manner"!

Dr. Shearen is ok with the patient, not too forthcoming on information though. To spouses or family (or staff) he is rude and snide. I've been told he knows his stuff, however it's hard to know since he won't answer you and treats complications casually. If I was choosing a surgeon again I'm sure there are ones that are pleasant AND skilled. Again, not even sure how skilled as complications continually appeard.

Took my mom to see Dr Shearen for a pre-op consultation. The waiting room was filled with people all of whom had earlier appointments. Not only was he running vastly late but he hadn't even arrived in the office yet. Many of the people there said that he always does this. We were looking at a multi hour wait so we walked out. On the way out another patient was arriving for the same time slot as my mom. Turns out they also double book slots. This is completely unacceptable.

Saw Dr Shearen for a pre op visit. Even though he was behind because of being gone the week before, his waiting room was full, he took his time with my husband and myself. He made us feel like I was his only patient. Very knowledgeable. He explained his part in the surgery, the procedure and what some consequences that could happen during the surgery. No wonder my orthopedic Dr won't do his procedure without Dr Shearen with his years of experience.

Very poor ability to communicate with the patient and family members. A three day hospital stay turned into seventeen days due to obvious incompetence. Failed in listening to patient and hospital physicians to give quality and accurate care for the patient. I would not recommend this physician to anyone.
