Dr. John Simmons, MD

The office staff is very difficult to work with, living 30 min out of town I've received referrals and they have me drive an hour to bring them in. The wait times are ridiculously extensive. I've tried giving this office another chance again I had an open referral that I decided to use somewhere else because of all the run around and difficulties this office gives me as well as extensive difficult times on the waiting times which is just completely and totally ridiculous. Better and easier to just go to El Paso more as well as better options as well as much more friendly office staff. I will not be back this time, I am happy with my other Dr's out of town. I'd stay away from Gerald Champion Christis as it's a nightmare to work with in this area.

Saw him in 2022. We liked him until----a referral was to be sent to an El Paso hospital. Hospital kept saying they never got it. For weeks I called the office to find out what happened. No one ever answered the phone or called me back. Gave up. Later, I went in to pick up the hard copy CD of an MRI and they had lost it. There was basket of other 2022 CD's but mine was "lost". I couldn't get any help on the referral situation either. Lost any and all confidence. Don't actually know if the doctor is good or not.

I have been a patient of Dr. Simmons for several years for chronic migraines. There is a long wait before the initial exam, and there is usually a long wait in the waiting room. However, once I am in to see Dr. Simmons, he takes the time to listen, and answer any questions that I have. I have never heard of a one question limit in his office. He is quite a talkative doctor and is very personable. Sometimes they do not follow up as quickly as I would like (returning calls, etc.). Because his language can be very colorful, sometimes I am uncomfortable. But I can overlook that because I think he really cares about his patients.

I was referred to Dr. Simmons for chronic migraines. He was laid back very caring. He didn’t rush through my appointment. The medicine I was givin has horrible side effects. The only issue I have is getting someone to call back. But understand he is a busy man.

Dr. Simmons and some of his staff behave in an unprofessional and uncaring manner. I would never recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Simmons is my neurologist. I have also seen him for sleep medicine. He has always taken as much time as I need for questions and explanations, and doesn't rush me out of his office. Because of this, there is sometimes a long wait in the waiting room. However, the time he takes with his patients, and the extent of treatment, is well worth the wait. His staff are wonderful, always there to lend a hand with filling out forms as I have essential tremor and cannot always fill out forms legibly. I would highly recommend him. Now that I know that he practices psychiatry, I will be trying to see him for mental health as well.

Waiting over 2 hours after calling to check how late Dr. Simmons was running, was told "oh, just 15/20 minutes behind schedule." Then go into exam room just to get scolded for not answering their calls. Only have a cell phone NO RECORDS OF MISSED CALLS OR VOICEMAILES!!!!

Diagnosed the cause of my headaches and treated them effectively.

I have been a migraine patient for many years and never treated so poorly in any Doctors office address I have been here. Dr. Simmons maybe a caring, educated and current neurologist, but his stuff is anything but perfessional. Wait time for first appointment will be months, in office wait is hours, one question limit and follow-up appointments are 1 year. First appointment I was told if migraine gets to bad, never go to local hospital, then I was handed an injectable medicine and told to read the directions.

Waste of time. All kinds of ridiculous rules including: No more than 10 min. Spent with a patient. One question allowed per visit! Each question requires a separate visit. There are signs on the wall stating these "rules" absolutely ridiculous.
