Dr. John Robinson Singleton, MD

I saw Dr. Singleton when I suddenly lost reliable function of my legs and was unable to walk. I will say that he and his team were quick to get me to MRI, run blood tests, and give me a diagnosis, but the positives end there. Throughout my hospital stay it felt like I was being disrespected and not taken seriously, as though I were faking my condition and my problem was certainly not at all important, despite it requiring me to abruptly quit my job and schooling. When someone on his team pushed for a specific test, he was very quick to shut them down, pull them aside, and dismiss them from the team (or so I assume, they never returned and Dr. Singleton seemed exceptionally irritated with them). He never went over my test results, including the abnormal ones that I saw uploaded to my chart after my stay, and kept saying everything looks fine, you should be glad it’s not MS. When I reached out to him to request a doctors note after missing my finals and unexpectedly being unable to… return to work because I could not walk, he outright refused to supply me with any written confirmation of treatment or explanation of medically necessary absence. He will treat you like an annoyance, and once you walk out the door, he will not help you. He is the only doctor who’s made me question if I’m being discriminated against. Never would I recommend this doctor if you can at all avoid him.

I've seen this doctor some time ago and from U of U reviews I was expecting much more, but the reality was completely different. I was sent there by another doctor who had problem establishing the diagnose. When I came there all the examination was done by really kind resident doctor . Then Dr. Singleton showed up and started asking me questions about my problem in rather rude way, like I was making it up. Then he told me that I need a different kind of doctor, but didn't refer me to anybody. The whole time talking to me he sat across from me on an examining bed swinging his legs. It was pure waste of time and money, and by that time I was really having problems (several seizure like episodes a day/ and was tired just talking to him and not trying to justify and defend myself. I left his office feeling like a psycho, but my problems got worse and I visited cardiology doctor to see if problem is related to my heart, who actually listened, cared and diagnosed my neurological (not… heart related) problem right on spot, gave me medicine in the office and it worked like magic. I went from 8 seizure like episodes a day to one in couple of days and all it took was a really knowledgeable doctor which I can't say from my experience about Dr. Singleton.
