J. Brannan Smoot, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in knee, foot, and ankle surgery. Dr. Smoot is also sub-specialty certified in sports medicine. In 2012, Dr. Smoot was recognized by his peers on the Texas Super DoctorsÂ® list. Dr. Smoot received a bachelor of arts in human performance and health sciences from Rice University in Houston. He graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and completed both an internship and residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City. Dr. Smoot also completed a knee fellowship as well as a foot and ankle fellowship in Sydney, Australia. Dr. Smoot is married with three children and spends much of his spare time with his kids or coaching their sports teams. He played division I college football at Rice University, and represented the USA in rugby against Canada in 1992. Dr. Smoot enjoys participating in triathlons and adventure racing when he can.

I was seen promptly and Dr. Smoot took some time with me to discuss a difficult situation. He reviewed my x-rays with me and gave me some possible reasons for my pain. I look forward to the next step after I obtain a CT scan.

This was my first visit with Dr. Smoot. I was pleasantly surprised by how thorough he was. He took and reviewed x-rays, explained my condition, asked questions, reviewed medications and gave options. I am old and forgetful, so I appreciate how patient he was. I am glad I was referred to see him.

Dr Smoot is personable and knowledgeable. I appreciate the time and patience he takes each visit. His staff from front office to his PA and medical team are excellent, friendly and professional. I highly recommend him and the care he provides.

Dr. Smoot reviewed the notes I provided from my emergency surgery which resulted from an injury 5 months ago. He took time assessing my ankle and explained his thoughts and my options from this point forward. His experience, expertise with ankle issues and calm bedside manner were very much appreciated. I would definitely recommend Dr. Smoot yo others.

Dr. Smoot, his PA Adam, and MA Jessica make an incredible team! From the moment Dr. Smoot performed my foot surgery, he has been nothing short of exceptional—empathetic, thorough, and always taking the time to explain every detail of my post-operative care. Dr Smoot is an excellent surgeon with excellent bedside manner!! Highly recommend him! He replaced my left knee and absolutely no complications! My right ankle also has problems and he was quick to diagnose and recommend strategies to fix. We are now in a wait and see period before going the next step! Dr Smoot is very easy to talk to and he takes his time and explains everything in layman terms!

Dr. Smoot is a sweetheart. I aways was able to get an appointment right away. My surgery went well. Follow up was a breeze. My pain from surgery was minimal. Dr Smoot made sure I was comfortable. I would highly recommend him for any foot issue. Also his team are kind and respectful. After several Doctors I have found my guy. Thank you Dr Smoot for taking excellent care of me.
