Dr. John Ludwig Szalyga, MD

1. Very long wait time - 3.5h. The doctor showed up at the office at 11am.. but his patients have been waiting since 9am...some gave up and left, I waited 3.5h. 2. I had visits at specialist doctors, I needed an additional referral. The doctors called dr Szalyga's office, I called almost every day to follow up. They stopped picking up calls from me. 3 weeks after the original request, I was told that the request was submitted.. well, it was not.. 1.5 months passed, I called again to follow up.. they said the doctor issued the referral a month before, they just did not send it anywhere... 3. My expectation of any doctor is that he/she takes care of himself/herself. If you are treating patients, you should be well groomed and not overweight. My expectations in this sense were not met here.

I spent almost a decade attempting to find a good family doctor in North Brooklyn. I'm so glad to have found Dr. Szalyga and recommend him highly. He is very knowledgable, caring and trustworthy. He builds long-lasting relationships with his patients, and I feel as though my health really matters to him. Unfortunately, the hospital system for whom he works doesn't have the best administrative system, so there's often a long wait time. I plan for of this, and take work with me to the waiting room with me. But it does make popping in for a quick visit really difficult. I really wish they could get this issue figured out. But I'll definitely say that seeing Dr. Szalyga is so worth it that I'll put up with the wait.
