Dr. John C Tanner, DO

Without Dr. Tanners encyclopedic wisdom on Addiction-and Mental Health, I would not be here today... nor would I have the skills Or knowledge to pass on to others who suffer ... he’s the Best.

Dr. Tanner took the time to listen to my issues and prescribe some medications that really helped.

Dr. Tanner is an awesome, knowledgeable physician who helped me many years ago to realize that I have an alcohol problem. If I could simply drink in moderation by having 1 or 2 beers a day, that would be great. The problem for people with alcoholic tendencies is they tell themselves “I’ll just have one or 2 and no more” then the next day, it’s 3 or 4, then they go off the deep end once again. I don’t ever recall Dr. Tanner suggesting that people can just cut back and everything can be fixed (as the previous reviewer stated). In fact, Dr. Tanner has said the opposite. If alcoholics could simply cut back, then people wouldn’t need help for alcohol dependence in the first place. Real treatment begins when the person realizes they have a problem and wants to change. It also helps to have a supportive environment where there is no alcohol in the house and alcohol is not consumed in front of the person in recovery.

I took a family member who has a drinking problem to see Dr Tanner. He led her to believe that "cutting back" on her drinking was not only possible but would fix her problem. I don't think I need to tell any of you reading this how that worked out. So, especially if you're looking for a solution that helps the real victims of drug or alcohol abuse, this is not your guy.

Dr. Tanner is an amazing Physician! He is a brilliant drug and alcohol Addiction Specialist at the forefront of the field with many, many years of experience. As such, he lectures across the Country and trains other Physicians in the field of Addiction Medicine and is highly regarded and respected in the Addiction Medicine Community. I've been a patient of his for over 8 sober years and I can attest that if you, or a loved one are suffering the throes of addiction and/or alcoholism and are in need of help, he's your man. I am so very thankful to Dr. Tanner for helping me get, and remain sober. I HIGHLY recommend him to anyone and everyone because his level of knowledge, expertise, kindness and compassion is unsurpassed in my experience. None of us are alike, nor our histories, nor what led us down the road of addiction and alcoholism, and therefore no one single treatment plan could ever possibly heal all of us successfully; and one of Dr. Tanner's greatest attributes lies in… his ability to construct a tailor-made treatment plan for each individual patient. So, for a new lease on life, or to save the life of a loved one, go see Dr. Tanner...and you'll be amazed how he can help you!

I have been a patient of Dr. Tanner's for over 5 years and we have been through a lot together. I have a very complex medical history, one that involves addiction, mental illness, liver condition, several hospitalizations and more, but Dr. Tanner has been on top of things all along. He really is a brilliant physician, and I hate it that he's gotten some negative backlash following his practice that he shared at Beaches Family Medicine. Unlike Dr. D., Dr. Tanner knows addiction inside and out and he takes sobriety and recovery very seriously. He's the best psychiatrist that I've ever seen for treatment over the many years, and I feel very confident relying on Dr. Tanner for all my medical issues. I only regret that he is no longer practicing as a GP.
