Dr. John Francis Tilzey, MD

Two years ago, I had hip replacement surgery done by Dr. Tilzey. Almost immediately post-op, I experiened severe pain in my iliopsoas tendon, so I asked him if I could get a CT Scan to see what may be causing the pain. Dr. Tilzey refused and told me that the implant was in perfect positioning (X-Ray), and that there was nothing else he could do. Tilzey basically tossed me away like an old shoe. So, I therefore went to a surgeon at the Baptist who did a CT Scan, which showed that the acetabular cup was digging into my iliopsoas tendon! Unfortunately for me, by the time I had the revision surgery to correct Tilzey's colossal mistake, the damage was done. I now have permanent pain emanating from my iliospoas tendon. Overall, I found Tilzey to be narcissistic, arrogant, and down-right dismissive when it came to doing what was in the best interest of the patient. My advice is to select another otho. who will do what's morally right if there's a problem.

I had a TKR and was in the hospital for 5 days. He never came to see me. He refused pain meds but did relent after I complained to hospital staff. He kept me waiting over 2 hours to have my stitches removed. I was in agony by the time I left my appt and I have no doubt that was what he planned. My knee became infected and I had a pulmonary embolism. I would only recommend him to my worst enemy. He is very arrogant and not practicing medicine to help patients. He is a narcissist and only interested in himself.

Iam from Virginia and I have H.O no one was willing to help me until my wife read about dr Telzey he done surgery and now iam getting my life back thank he not a oh poor thing type guy he is a get it done type guy

Dr. TIzley is so self centered and arrogant that he has forgotten the most important part of the patient/doctor relationship and that is communication. I recently had a procedure with this man and I didn't see him until the day of my discharge. I will never recommend him to family or friends. BEWARE.

I was literally discharged within 26 hours of having full hip replacement. Make sure it is anterior and not a posterior hip replacement or you are in for a world of hurt. Dr. Tilzey may not be the warmest or fuzziest but he is a consummate professional!

I had double knee surgery with Dr. Tilzey and could not be happier with the results. I especially wanted a doctor the has done many of the same procedure and Dr. Tilzey fit the bill. I had a friend who had her knee fixed by him and with great results. Surgery is unique to each of us, as we all are, so no two people will heal the same. If I had to pick a surgeon again I would definitely see Dr. Tilzey. Should have done this a long time ago.

Replacement failed had to have a total revision at a different hospital by a different surgeon.

I had a great experience with Dr. Tilzey I would recommend him to any one. He really treated me with respect and professionalism .

Does great surgery. Could use a sense of humor. Gave me a hard time giving me a prescription for pain medication when I needed it.
