Dr. John H Tu, MD

I have no idea why Dr. Tu is given a 2 in the rating. He is very professional,kind and knowledgeable. We talked and laughed. When he is working he does not talk. He knows what he is doing and I would recommend him.

I saw Dr. Tu for a mole check back in Spring 2022. I had a few suspicious moles and he recommend biopsies for both. His behavior was less than professional. He yelled at me for not being in the correct position for the biopsy. Then he proceeded to mock me for having varicose veins. Probably the most humiliating experience that I have ever had at a physicians office. There's more to this story but I'm done. Check out the other reviews. These are not just people with an agenda.

Dr. Tu was late for my 8am first patient of the day appointment, Extremely rude and condescending. Will not be returning to this office or recommending to anyone new.

First I was on hold with the office 15 mins before I was cleared to come in. They did not ask any covid questions or take my temperature even though Monroe county was in an orange zone. They collected my copay over the phone before I was allowed to enter the building and now I wish I'd never paid a nickel! This was the worst experience with a doctor EVER! Dr Tu was arrogant, rude and condescending. He talked over me way more than he listened. Seemed to want to push me off on someone else for a consultation and NEVER EVEN had me pull my mask down to LOOK AT MY SKIN! His assistant told me, "Yeah, he usually just takes your word for it." SERIUOSLY?!? If I knew what I needed would I have driven 45 minutes and paid a "professional"?!? Then they sent my prescription to "their" pharmacy and said someone would contact me in a couple days with information so I could decide if I wanted to proceed. It's been three days and no one has contacted me yet...It's too bad because the team upstairs at… the Derma Spa is AWESOME! Kristyn has helped me in one visit sooo much more than anyone else ever has, and she seems a lot more knowledgeable than this "doctor."

After moving to Rochester, went to see Dr. Tu for a recommended yearly checkup for Melanoma on many moles I have. He said that I have too many for him to look at, so I should just have my wife keep on eye on the ones I can't see and take photos if she or I see any that are abnormal. I had to pay for this visit just for him to tell me that my wife and not him should look at the moles. My previous doctor would go throughout the entire body with a magnifying glass and inform me or remove the ones she though may be a problem.

He is my children’s dermatologist and I am very happy with the care he gave them and with the detailed explanation he gives about all the treatment options to both me and the kids.

My two appointments with Dr. Tu resulted in me finding him exceedingly knowledgeable in the field of medical dermatology, very detailed, listened intently to my concerns and fully addressed them. I am a registered nurse and found his "bedside manner" met my standards. DS

My doctor is Lesley Loss but seeing she is not available, they stuck me with Dr. Tu. He is very outspoken to the point of being insulting. I was offended at a lot of what he said to me. Made a remark about me being "old" and I am but I didn't need him to tell me that. Also mentioned my plastic surgeon in a demeaning way. I don't think doctors should shun other doctors. Especially a dermatologist when talking about a world renowned plastic and reconstructive surgeon. Next time, I will wait for Dr. Loss.

Dr. Tu is an absolute disgrace to the medical profession, and if he hasn't been already, needs to be reported the American Board of Professionalism. He is curt, rude, flip, condescending, and quite frankly, should be embarrassed regarding his poor attitude and patient approach. Perhaps Dr. Tu needs to be reminded of the Hippocratic Oath to which all physicians are held. Not only did he not explain my diagnosis, but incorrectly diagnosed me, and started me on medication at an improper dose. Shame on you, Dr. Tu. You may be a board-certified Dermatologist, but you're worse than a third-year medical student, in my opinion. By the way, I have since transferred by care, and your nasty reputation crosses state borders. Perhaps you need a course refresher on "Patient-centered Care and Compassion". You should be ashamed.

I just recently saw Dr. Tu for an overall skin check. It was the first the time I had been to a dermatologist and it was an absolutely horrible experience. He was rude, in a hurry, and did not speak directly to me in the five minuets he spent in the room to examine me.
