Dr. John Howard York, DO

I was referred to this doctor by the Urgent Care...I wish I had gone to my GP instead. He was not interested in me or my injuries. He spent very little time with me and was less than polite!! Avoid this guy if you want good health care!!!

Dr. York saved me from being in a wheel chair in 2014. He did a complex spinal fusion operation, during which. he chose to extend the operation and run the two rods in my lower spine higher. This was two years ago, and I could barely walk with out feeling terrible pain then. Shortly after surgery my pain was gone and I no longer needed anything but advil for pain. Today 2016, my x-ray shows the hardware he put in, rods , nails, staples, etc. are all intact and look great. I need no pain medication now. That surgery took experience,confidence, and excellent skill on his part. Everyone's injury/situation is different, so don't take the people who criticize his work to heart; it's easy to cry foul when recoveries aren't able to meet our satisfaction. Dr. York gives every patient 100% of his skills and time, which is worth more than 100% of some other surgeon's skills and time. He is methodical in every step he makes, and explains things to you in this way. You can be assured that Dr.… York will give you the best treatment and outcome that you could possibly have. His office is family run, so the continuity is great. Don't hesitate to give Dr. York a visit. He has connections for all types of pain relief and instantly can tell you what is wrong, what can be done for you, and what will happen if you wait too long and do nothing. He tells the truth. Isn't that what you want to hear? Bon Secours told me he is the most thorough physician they have for pre-op and post-op work. Hospitals never recommend any one physician. And, yes it is true once your a patient of his you're always a patient of his. He and his staff really care about your welfare, your comfort, and your quality of life. I have been seeing Dr. York every month for over 6 months - he is recommending surgery as my previous ortho did but this will be my 2nd fusion and I am still a little frightened about it. Dr. York has really been patient with me and each time I see him I get a little more comfortable with the idea of surgery. I am here at this site to see what others have rated him.

I went to Dr. York for a ruptured achilles tendon, little did I know It was going to be infected the following week. He was attentive to all of my concerns and needs. I was scared about having a bad infection in my leg and the things that could happen. He treated me in the hospital, I believe Dr. York has my best interest at heart. After all that mess, now I am having back problems. I had prior surgery in 09, and was diagnosed with degenerative disc disease. My back is in excruciating pain from a possible herniated disc and I trust Dr. York to make the best decision going forward. He is one doctor that truly cares about his patients! Thank you.

I heard many patients say he was the only one who fixed them. He seemed knowledgeable. He told me that since he did my knee and my back, he would always be responsible. I am waiting to see. Plan to spend lots of time in the waiting room. He keeps changing staff. Most do not know what they are doing, and will argue you down. Most are also not courteous. I know something is suspicious, but I wont discuss it since I cant prove it!

I've seen Dr. York a number of times over the past two years about two separate fractured bone incidents. I fractured my hip on NYE 2011 and Dr. York performed surgery the next morning, on New Years Day. I'm sure he had scheduled a holiday for himself to do any number of more relaxing things besides put me back together. So based on the shape of the hip fracture (it was pretty gnarly), the ER doctor warned that I might suffer loss of range of motion even when fully healed, and indicated that a full hip replacement (at age 22) might be the ideal course of action. Luckily, Dr. York decided to save the hip, and then somehow managed to pin it back together perfectly. Six months after that I was running, biking & swimming like I used to with only a 1" scar to indicate it was ever broken. Definitely the work of a skilled surgeon. I went back to see Dr. York recently about a routine clavicle fracture, and based on his advice, I opted out of surgery and allowed the bone to heal naturally. Four… weeks later the bone was healing up great, no need for excessive scars or medications. Every time I spoke with Dr. York was an education--he took the time to go over my x-rays in detail and explain what was going on with my bones using words I could understand.

Dr. York was my doctor for 3 years. I will tell you this I was a fool. He did 2 surgeries on me. The first one ok. The second was a spinal fusion by the procedure of Axialift where the bolt is inserted into the spine through the sacrum (L5/S1. Bone leak from the site and fused with some of my oa to cause spinal stenosis.on the left side of spine. Now I have fail spinal fusion and spinal stenosis on top of it. I believed in him. He was not man enough to tell me he was releasing me to pain management, his nurse did. They did not help me find a pain management place by the grace of god, I found one. I am worst now than I was before. Dr. York you might not realize this but you have caused me more pain in my life than I have ever dealt with from physical pain where the bolt is to big for my spine, spinal stenois because of leakage of bone, the manner in which I was release, not from you, but your nurse. You have caused me depression, and I don't believe in myself now because I… am disabled. Thank you Dr. York for not caring because I thought you did. What a fool I was. May God forgive you for what you have done to me and other.

Sadly I was refered to Dr York because I was an emergency patient, due to a fluke accident that occurred in spring 2003. Long story short, another orthopedic Dr. had to save my leg due to a botched surgery that left me with an infection so extreme I was only given a 30 percent chance of keeping my leg. It's been nearly 10 years since my incident occurred, however I am scarred and effected for life from this horrible Expierance. I can only hope he has gotten better with time....

Dr. York was GREAT!!! I had a partial right shoulder replacement after an injury at work. He is a wonderful MD and person.
