Dr. John R Zuniga, DDS

I had my jaw replaced by Dr. Zuniga in 2016 after years of being treated for severe TMJ. Come to find out, I had no jawbone. He’s not the best at bedside manner and sometimes awkward, but I’ve found the best surgeons usually are. He helped me by getting me into the hospital to administer deep Botox to the area so I could get off my strong pain meds prior to the procedure in order to work after. I had only 2 doctors in the whole Dallas and surrounding area that would even take my case due to its complexity. The other surgeon was going to be 52k oop just for his fee, braces 6 months before and after (which sucked bc I had them 7.5 years when younger), heavy duty metal implants, as well as wired shut for 12 weeks. Dr. Zuniga managed to do a lefort (detach and move my teeth) and I didn’t need a day of braces, wired shut for 12 days, high grade hip like plastics sent to multiple engineers to check, and best of all $1,298 was the total cost oop for everything! Plus, my teeth fit together… better than ever after he moved them. He managed to change my life by everything he did. I don’t know what I would’ve done without him. I see other comments, and it saddens me because the man simply is a genius. It’s hard to explain how great it is to be able to chew without severe pain for the first time in 17 years. My joints are kinda bothering me again now but understand that’s gonna happen within 15 years, but I know with him as my doctor it’ll work out somehow. The front desk is AWESOME too.

Dr Z changed my life and not for the better. He talked me N2 having a drastic, joint replacement of both jaws when I have had many other oral surgeons since tell me that i just needed phys therapy. I am in SO much more pain after his surgery, and we have learned he left the operation for his residents to handle, not showing up that day - where they cut a facial nerve, causing paraIysis & I had to have 6 later jaw surgeries to try and correct this & 3 yrs of braces. He told me I needed a psychiatrist and should never come back to him.

I had a TMJ joint destroyed by RA. I had an episode of septic joint and needed an expert. Dr Zuniga was that person. He is so very nice, polite, SMART! I have my joint replacement i 2011 and have had no problems. I highly recommend this doctor.

Find another doctor, this guy needs to retire . If you are an easy candidate /patient with an easy uncomplicated problem, I would maybe recommend him. But please keep moving and searching for another doctor who will LISTEN , not talk over you ,make judgements , terrible bedside manner, or even false accusations or my favorite you can't afford the treatment . Ha guess what after research on my own my insurance does cover treatment . I am with another specialist now, who listens , disagrees with all of dr. Zuniga notes and assement . And his asst, PA , nursing staff are judgmental, rude, and do NOT listen to the patient .

Would not recommend . Find another specialist . Did not listen to me, talked over me. Did not properly treat my condition

Excellent l microsurgeon for endodontic nerve complications. The best in Dallas Tx!!

Seemed very intested in helping me figure out what was causing my pain.
