Dr. John Shan Young, MD

Dr.Young is an excellent Dr. He goes above and beyond what most Dr would and the staff is great as well.

Amazing physician - very good beside manner - takes the time to talk to you and explain things to you. I never feel rushed when I have questions. The staff is also very helpful and very nice.

Dr. Young was recommended to be by several friends and acquaintances as a good, caring, Christian doctor. I used him for 5 or 6 years for annual checkups only, as I have no children and never had any issues. During that time I found him odd but brushed it off, trying to not be so picky. First, there is always Christian church-type music playing in the lobby and the offices. I feel bad mentioning that as a criticism because I am a Christian who loves God, but thereâ??s just something weird to me about worship music playing all over the place when youâ??re seeing the gynocologist. Dr. Young frequently makes religious references and based on the way he has treated me about certain issues, I feel that because he has like 6 kids and is a very religious person, his own personal beliefs about how people should run their life heavily influence his medical practice. Yes, I want a doctor with morals and decency, but there should be a line drawn when the doctorâ??s opinions on morality and family… life are not used to influence his medical practice and influence the lives of his patients. When I used Dr. Young the first few years, I observed that his bedside manners were just oddâ?¦ he was always stone-faced, serious, not going out of his way to be friendly or make me feel comfortable. It was almostâ?¦.awkward. He would do the exam, say â??everything looks goodâ?? and start to head out the door. If I wanted to mention something or ask a question, it was like I had to grab him before he ran out the door to the next person. He never asked if I had any questions or concerns and when I did stop him to talk, he would address it quickly and made me feel as though it bothered him that I held him up to address a concern. I was unmarried and living with my fiancee, and he always made me feel guilty and like he looked down on me for engaging in premarital sex. He asked about how many men Iâ??d ever been with; since I had no diseases or issues, Iâ??m not sure how that was pertinent for him to know. 2 years ago on my routine visit, at the age of 25, I explained to him that I had never in my life wanted children, did not want them now, my husband did not want them, and we did not forsee that we ever would; to be frank (and I apologize if it sounds downright mean), my husband and I donâ??t even care to be around children that much. I find them annoying and the sound of a baby crying is torture to my ears. So, I asked Dr. Young if I could stop taking my birth control and get my tubes tied. I thought he was going to blow a gasket! He talked about how his sister or somebody didnâ??t want kids, then accidentally got pregnant and has 2 kids that she loves more than anything; he said I should wait and see if I change my mind and that he would not even consider tying my tubes until I was at least 29 years old and had 2 kids. I said â??I DONâ??T WANT KIDS, would you rather me give birth to a child I donâ??t want?â?? He then became very rude and said â??Iâ??ll never do it for you, and I challenge you to find a doctor who will.â?? Last year on my routine visit, I advised him that I was experiencing a decreased libido and that it was harmful to my relationship with my husband because I could not give him a reason why I didnâ??t feel it like I used to. Iâ??m only 26 at the time, not an old lady! I told him that I wanted to avoid medication at all cost and was just asking what could be causing it and if there was anything I could do health-wise to fix the issue. Also, I had been on ogestrel contraceptive for about 5 yrs, which is a very high dose birth control. I asked if that could be the cause. Dr. Young said that there was no way the birth control could cause decreased libido, told me it was all in my head and that sex is just not as important to women as it is to men and that women place sex at the bottom of the priority list. He said the only thing he could possibly do for me was give me testosterone!! When I said â??Thereâ??s no way Iâ??m doing that, Iâ??m not trying to turn into a manâ?? he said â??Well thereâ??s nothing else I can do.â?? I also have a very close friend who is in her 40s, has no children and has never wanted any, and he still treated her like crap about it until she finally got fed up and quit using him. Itâ??s like he thinks women are supposed to stay home barefoot and pregnant with not a worry in the world and be ready to put out for their husbands at his beck and call. I will NEVER use him again.

I have been a patient of Dr. Young's for years. I have never felt my care was compromised!! Every examination was done in a professional manner. I would highly recommend Dr. Young to anyone looking for a good christian doctor.

I've been seeing Dr. Young for over 20 years. He's delivered all four of my children, performed my ablation, and now, my hysterectomy. He is a wonderful, knowledgeable,and courteous, doctor. No others compare, he's the only one I'll see.

I love this Dr. I've seen him for just over 10 years n he's delivered 2 of my children. I wish he was my every day dr. I would refer him to anyone.

I have been using Dr. Young for many years now and have never had anything that came close to being a negative experience. He is a fine christian physician with wonderful bedside manners and a caring personality. I can't even begin to see the validity in some of the previous negative comments made on here about Dr. Young. If you are looking for a fine christian man and physician, then I highly recommend Dr. Young to you.

He is a great Dr! I had 2 miscarriages before finally having my son 5 weeks ago. He was always nice and seemed genuinely concerned when I was going through tough times! He was constantly checking on me while I was in labor! I would.definitely recommend him and will continue to use him as my Dr!

I used this doctor for my last child. At first, Dr. Young seemed to be nice and professional. I nearly lost my daughter due to complications at the hospital. My daughter was delivered and every thing seemed to be fine. At my post-part visit, I was diagnosed with post-part depression. I continued to have problems. He recommended a hysterectomy. I had surgery. I went back for my post-op visit and that is when things changed. He asked me very intimate questions about my sex life. Accused that I had been assaulted. Proceeded with an assault kit. Then, he proceeded to touch me inappropriate way ungloved inside me. Asked me, is this how it's done? When I contacted them for my medical records, the staff didn't know what I was talking about. I did contact the police department and every one I could tell, but they believed him more than me. The staff covered for him and I ended up being made a fool. Beware everything that glitters isn't gold. Warning don't go to this doctor without someone with… you, he's done it before don't think that he wouldn't do it to you.

Very nice. He cares. Friendly staff. Listens to you.
