Best doctor on Earth and even the galaxy.

Despite practicing at a prestigious orthopedic hospital where I’ve had otherwise positive experiences including surgery, I would never recommend Dr. Deland. After a bunionectomy and hammertoe fusion my foot is irreparably damaged. Shoe choices are very limited and I have frequent pain in my foot as well as poor balance. My toes are droopy and frozen.

He botched my foot (bunionectomy) and left me with a severe chronic pain condition called CRPS. When I went back to him post-operatively in agonizing pain, he refused to acknowledge there could be a severe complication and called me a ‘baby’. Avoid him like the plague.

I wish I had read these reviews before my surgery, Deland was highly recommended to me by a coworker and I was really hopeful, unfortunately, he was deceptive and changed the course of the surgery and only told me when I was about to go in surgery and it resulted in a botched surgery. The pain is same if not worse than before after 6 months. I am really mad at myself for believing what he promised was a 80 to 90 % chance of relieving my pain. I think he only saw the $ signs. I felt so betrayed by this doctor.

I expected a cold, uncaring, boiler plate meeting with Dr. Deland because he’s HSS, renowned, doctor to the famous and the rich, which I am not. Instead what I found was a warm professional who treated ME, not my x-rays, not my age but me. He didn’t come into the examining room with a prescribed solution but he actually spoke with me, not at me. So refreshing and welcome. Of course, all that would be nice but insufficient if he wasn’t very smart and experienced. I trusted his knowledge and expertise. Each and every person I had contact with when I saw Dr. Deland was equally personable and warm, never speaking by rote. I will follow Dr. Deland’s recommendation regarding my problem because, after meeting and talking with him, I trust it is the best path forward.

I cannot stress enough the level of professionalism that Dr. Jonathan Deland and his staff exhibited. His skill as a surgeon, combined with his compassion, makes him stand heads above the rest. His transparency throughout the entire process alleviated my fears and made me feel that I was cared for every step of the way. After my surgery, he emphasized the importance of listening to his instructions carefully, stating that as long as I followed them closely, I would be fine. I am happy to report that he was correct and that I now experience no pain whatsoever—I’m feeling BETTER than brand new! While I pray that I don’t need his services again anytime soon, I can rest easy knowing that I’m in good hands with Dr. Jonathan Deland. Taking the time to research the right doctor really pays off.

Dr. Deland is calm and patient. He is flexible and his treatment plan is specific to my response and recovery. The Nurse Practitioner Kristine is an intelligent knowledgeable professional who works seamlessly with Dr. Deland. All of the office staff are courteous, professional and follow through with all requests to completion. I am very satisfied with my experience and outcome of my surgery.

Dr. D is not only known as one of the best and brightest doctors in his specialty but is also one if the most caring and kind. A rarity to find today. He will never hesitate to speak with you personally any day the week.
