Dr. Jonathan Marc Hershey, MD

I saw Dr. Hershey for 19 years ( from age 11 until we moved). He is not a pediatric doc but he was very good with me as a child - which most specialists in his field were not (my mother took me to several others who were used to elderly patients who might be more cooperative with the unpleasantness of invasive eye exams). The assistant docs were good about my requests for the less powerful dilation drops, the glaucoma test I preferred, etc. Though they were sometimes inconsistent (from one to the next) about how a test was administered - but again my condition is rare. He was always pleasant, kept excellent records, and the quality of care is very high. My only complaint migth be that he was not always up on the latest research but my condition is rare - and he read any studies I brought in for him to review. Really good doc and I've never switched if still lived anywhere near by. I saw Dr. Hershey at the Kenosha and two Milwaukee locations.

I have many doctors and Dr. Hershey is the best.

I had a difficult and highly unusual diagnosis. I had the opinions of several doctors on it. Ultimately I entrusted my care to Dr. Hershey, and while unfortunately the vision in my eye was ultimately lost - he was absolutely on top of new ideas and possible treatments every step of the way. He listened, gave feedback, and involved me in decisions on my health. Despite the fact he was not able to fix my eye (again - unusual case without many successes in the few case studies found), I would still recommend him to anyone. He also treated my Mom's retinal detachment - successfully! Excellent doctor!

Retinal detachments - as they occur suddenly - are traumatic. The care I received from Dr. Hershey and staff was outstanding. Caring, responsive and professional. I can not say enough about the support and care I received from this physician and every professional in his offices. I am pleased and relieved with the outcome of a difficult surgery.

I had the retina Vitreous surgery which should have helped me see better. It's worse than before the surgery and Dr. Hershey is stumped. I feel he should ask another doctor for their opinion, perhaps some answers. He's a very nice man, but the follow up visits are a certain 2 hour wait. You see the nurse and she checks your eyes and then you go sit back in the waiting rooms for an hour or more and then back to wait for the doctor, and then he sees you for about 10 minutes tops. It's very frustrating and it's hard to find a "driver" with that kind of time to waste. I guess if the surgery had helped, I wouldn't be so upset, and the wait would be OK, but this business of coming back every 3 - 5 weeks...affects my opinion. Thank you.
