Dr. Jonathan Robert Manning Kaplan, MD

Initial visit I was truly impressed as he came highly recommended by two close friends. I left front confident and happy that my foot injury would be corrected and I felt I was educated and happy with the steps that we're going to be taken. When I showed up for my pre-op appointment he completely backstepped, had 0 confidence in the outcome and cancelled my surgery 2 weeks prior. While he wanted to do more tests, at that point I no longer felt confident in moving forward and went to another Dr. for a 2nd opinion.

Had been to many Dr. and no one seemed to know what to do about a foot that had had 8 surgeries prior. Dr. Kaplan listened to my problem, made a plan and surgery was set. Great results and so please. Highly recommend him.

Dr. Kaplan came highly recommended and certainly deserves this reputation. He instills confidence backed by his expertise in his specialized field. My recovery is slow -- which he explained at the outset -- and he's been there every step of the way.

Dr. Kaplan and his team were very easy to work with. Dr. Kaplan was well prepared and extremely knowledgeable. He explained what was going on with my ankle and the procedure that would help. Let me know when your ready to proceed. Walking was difficult when he performed my surgery. After recovery and PT, I walk pain free. He was awesome. His team is awesome. And I am so grateful.

Dr. Jonathan Kaplan, Lorraine and the rest of the staff on this team are fantastic to work with! The group is friendly, accommodating and very efficient. They are part of a large practice where patients can get a feeling of just being a number, but that is not anywhere close to the truth with this team! Being part of a larger group just enhances the experience due to the resources that are available. As far as Dr. Kaplan I researched his background and credentials. You will find very few surgeons that have the experience and training...I did the research. He was incredibly patient in his surgical approach with my particular issue and agreed with me that we wanted to try all other modalities prior to surgery...this is NOT the standard for a surgeon who has been trained to be in the O.R. He has even partnered with other non-surgical M.D.'s (Dr. Adam Rivadeneyra) who is primarily a non-surgical highly experienced physician. DR. Kaplan's preparation and guidance to me prior to surgery… was patient and detailed. I know people from the industry that have been in the O.R. suite with him that are equally impressed with his surgical skills. If you are in the Southern California area, or quite frankly the Western hemisphere with a lower extremity issue, Dr. Jonathan Kaplan and his team is the place to go!

Dr. Kaplan became my hero during my recovery from a devastating injury - my recovery was 12 months and during this time he was spot on giving me advise and helping me with the depression of not being able to walk. I can not say enough positive things about having my foot surgery. Although staying with it up for 2 months was not easy I followed Dr. Kaplan’s orders and it has healed well. All of his staff are always helpful and very pleasant. I tell everyone what a positive experience it was.

Prior to surgery, I read all of the good reviews on this site and thought I was choosing a good doctor. These reviews are so inaccurate, I can only deduce they are his friends or family. Dr. Kaplan did a very poor job with my foot surgery, and caused additional problems I never had before the surgery. When I confronted him about the additional complications, he had no valid justification and shrugged it off as if I had no right to ask. His arrogant attitude and gigantic ego is so very distasteful and alarming that I’m beside myself that others haven’t spoken out. Please do yourself a favor and find a professional, caring, empathetic, experienced surgeon who is qualified, skilled and will not leave you with long lasting and permanent damages to your body.

Dr. Kaplan is full of energy to do his best for each patient. He performed my ankle reconstruction and had a 6 page description of what to do and when to do it for my Physical Therapist. He is precise and detailed. He also is good at compromising difficult situations such as using a splint instead of casting and was smart to recommend I use the VACOped boot which made a world of difference in my healing progression. I loved how eager and willing he is to get his patients better and he is a no nonsense doctor. I would use him again and recommend him highly!

Dr. Kaplan is an amazing doctor. He is very personable and makes sure you understand what your diagnosis is and what he will be doing to help correct it. I was told by another doctor for years that I had a minor bunion that was causing my pain. After a couple of years of it not getting better with the non surgical treatments, and not wanting to do the bunion surgery because of the long recovery, I decided to look for a doctor that performs a less evasive bunion surgery. This is when Dr. Kaplan's name appeared. I quickly called for an appointment. When I called I was able to get an appointment right away. After talking about my symptoms, Dr. Kaplan ordered an MRI on my toe, which the other doctor NEVER did. Thanks to Dr. Kaplan ordering the MRI, the issue was determined, it wasn't a bunion it was cartilage damage. I am now on my way to recovery after surgery and can't wait to be pain free again!
