Dr. Jonathan Eberhard Mack, MD

We brought our son to Dr. Mack after being referred to him by numerous doctors. We were told our son had a complete ACL tear. Dr. Mack had looked at the x-rays and figured there was a tibia break and possible ACL tear separation. After the MRI was complete everyone said it was a complete ACL separation and tibia break. Dr. Mack was the only one who said it looked like just a break. He said he was going Do the surgery and repair whatever needed to be done. The post surgery was awesome. He did such a great job. After reviewing some of the previous patients reviews I had to leave a post because my experience was 100% the opposite. I have recommended Dr. Mack to numerous others from the experience I’ve had with my son.

Dr. Mack mis-diagnosed my torn rotator cuff twice. The first time I was given cortizone injections and sent to physical therapy with a completely torn cuff. Once he approved an MRI and discovered a complete tear, Dr. Mack operated on the tear and the entire experience from office visits to post surgical care was deplorable. The office staff at Elliot Orthopaedics were very unpleasant, both on the phone and in person, every time I had an interaction with them. I was sent home from surgery with no pain medications, did not receive returned phone calls in the time frame that they promised-even when I was in immense pain, had to wait at least 20 minutes just to check in for appointments and often waited an hour or longer in the waiting room to see the Doctor. One appointment I had with Dr. Mack was so rushed due to him being so far behind schedule that he actually told me to book another appointment so that he could take more time to explain the surgical procedure he was going to do… on my shoulder. Considering each visit was a $50 co-pay and a large time commitment waiting, I felt that was inconsiderate and unprofessional of him. After the surgery I experienced uncontrolled pain for 7 weeks even on all pain medications. I had terrible pain and kept communicating to Dr. Mack that it felt like it was torn. He insisted on giving more cortisone injections, saying it was merely inflammation, and when he finally approved another MRI he misread the MRI and told me the shoulder was not torn. Upon getting a second opinion from a different surgeon it was discovered that Dr. Mack misdiagnosed the shoulder and I, in fact, had a complete tear and had to go through a rotator cuff repair revision only 6 months after the first surgery The second surgery was far more extensive than the first. Interestingly enough, 5 days after the second surgery I was off all pain medications, including over the counter drugs, and had no pain. The surgeon that I went to for the second time took his time with me at appointments, all of his office staff is incredibly nice and accommodating, and his pre and post operative care was amazing. Obviously his surgical skills are above and beyond considering how well I felt post op. I would not recommend Elliot Orthopaedics group and especially would warn against seeing Dr. Mack. I have learned that the surgeon does make all the difference and it is worth taking the time to find one who comes highly recommended.
