Dr. Jonathan Hale Maks

I thought my initial visit with Dr. Maks went very well. I had blood drawn after my visit. I am a nurse. I called 3 times and left a message with the receptionist asking Dr. Maks to call me back to discuss the results. He never did. I messaged him in the My Chart application, and went back on the site to see if he responded, and it stated that the messages had never been read by the staff. Find another doctor would be my recommendation. What if I had an urgent situation?

I've been seeing Dr Maks for many years. He is consistenlty wonderful--knowledgeable, caring and spends time with me questioning and listening to determine what's going on and how to help. And with his gerontology subspecialty, I know I'll be seeing him for many years. The practice's NP, Mary Snedeker is also fantastic--informed, responsive and very helpful. I can always get in to see someone quickly.

Dr Maks has been my IM for quite a few years now and I couldn't recommend him more highly. He's knowledgeable and caring, takes time with you during your appointments to really question and listen to understand what's happening and how to help. The guy may be smart, but he is too busy with hospital administrative duties to make his elderly (i.e., "time-consuming") patients a priority. He is slick and pushes "concierge medicine," whereby he wants elderly patients to pay him a monthly retainer in order to be have on-call and priority access to him and timely appointments. Basically, he wants private-pay patients to be the bulk of his practice. This smacks of profit over compassionate patient care. Also, he isn't very good at checking messages through the online portal (because his priorites are elsewhere), so don't expect quick replies to any questions you may have.

Intelligent, knowledgeable, very caring and committed. He spends time necessary with patients and is interested in patient's welfare apart from visit.

Very nice demeanor. Made me feel at ease. Straight talk express... gave me correct diagnosis to treat my Coccydynia.

Dr. Max is a very intelligent and committed physician. He spends time with the patient, asks excellent questions, and makes the patient feel he cares about his/her health.
