Dr. Jon Smerek, MD

Dr. Greenfield at OrthoIndy referred me to Dr. Smerek for a second opinion, because I have a rare condition. I dropped off a folder with my MRI discs, op notes, etc. and waited the recommended five days. After almost two weeks, and MULTIPLE voicemails, they FINALLY called me back. Unfortunately, since he’s out of my network and I can’t afford $150 up front, he won’t see me- won’t even look at my case or confer with my doctor. I’m not asking for free service, but he won’t bill me or negotiate. Doctors really are all about the money. They couldn’t care less about pain and suffering.

I have had two different surgeries done by the doctors at Methodist Sports Medicine. Dr. Dale Snead repaired my left shoulder. Dr. Jonathan Smerek repaired my left Achilles tendon. Both injuries were chronic long term injures that required considerable expertise. I'm happy to report that today I am able to not only do what used to be routine efforts with these tendons, but I am able to work out as hard as I want. My pain continues to decrease the longer I get from each of the surgeries. Both doctors were very clear communicators of the situation and the options. And the follow-up post surgery was awesome. My biggest problem now is which chronic injury to have repaired next with Methodist Sports Medicine.

I have had very good treatment each time I have seen Dr. Smerek. He has spent time explaining to me what my situation is and helping me find solutions for more comfort. His staff are wonderful also.

Dr. Smerek has provided excellent care for my ankle injury! He helped guide me through and give me all of the conservative options possible. I ultimately had to undergo surgery 2+ weeks ago, but I am healing well with no complications. Dr. Smerek has excellent bedside manner and explains everything thoroughly. Even my husband, who had never met Dr. Smerek prior to my surgery date commented that he had great faith that he would be able to provide the best outcome for me. Very easy to work with, and his staff is top-notch!

Dr. Smerek's is an awesome physician. He cares for his patients and takes time with you. I would recommend him to anyone. His bed side manner is awesome.

So went with pain in my foot. Thought I was going to top dr... don't really know because his office staff is not friendly. I was lost as to the correct building for my first visit, so showed up 10 mins late...wow how rude the staff was! I said I could reschedule because it was my fault for being late but they saw me anyway. Geeezz everyone along the way reminded me I was LATE! I knew I was, then no one called after I paid for a $3000 MRI on foot. I called 3 times before I got to talk with the rude nurse....3 weeks after my MRI. She said use this ointment for 3 weeks and come to office and get fitted for insert. Not bothering to tell me my results or what the plan for my care. It's been 6 months now and not one follow up call....guess if your not a COLTs player then you don't get expected care.

Dr. Smerek is absolutely amazing!!!! He is very caring and is willing to do anything to help his patients feel better. I would highly recommend him to anyone with lower extremity issues.

Dr. Smerek, barely took the time to look at the MRI i brought in,disagreed with what my othopedic Dr sent me there for, told me everything that had been done was wrong, didn't listen to a word i said an refused to do other treatments for me. Said he didn't see nothing out of the ordianary, but gave me an injection an medication... if nothing was wrong then why the treatment?

Dr. Smerek performed ankle fusion surgery on me. I have had chronic pain for the better part of my 62 years. My ankle pain is now gone and I am back to exercising. I would highly recommend Dr. Smerek to anyone with chronic foot and ankle pain and will continue to be his patient for ever.
