Dr. Jonathan Derk Zimmerman, MD

Truly awful - bullied me, baited me, and allowed me to become very sick. A genuinely unempathic person. Power and roles really do corrupt. His general mantras include, "don't ask me, I don't know, nobody tells me anything, I'm not responsible, you're being unreasonable, and we've been over this." Genuinely gaslit me about my diagnosis (the specific components of it changed three times, but he was insistent that neither it nor my treatment plan were any of my business - it required multiple appointments and much, much badgering to be about to find out what I was being treated for, or to be able to indicate what I wanted out of therapy). Manipulative, distorting - may have a "wah, I'm a nice guy, don't ask me," demeanor but is not actually a nice person. I feel sick thinking about how many times he minimized my pain and genuine distress. He was very unwilling to get to know me, and everything was like out of some book. Some examples, after something horrible happened in the treatment… (threats of physical violence from other patients are a thing here), he always told me to think about what I did to cause it. He reacted to my stated hope of being liked by another staff (my therapist) with mockery, saying I'm sorry did you just say you want to be LOVED? When I mentioned I was making a big life change, he very irritably accused me of trying to imply I wanted him to give me the money for it (yes, literally - this was like the second time we literally met). Ouch, and what, are my personal opinions of his personal style. CITPD itself is not good - emotionally abusive, like some place where they think they have to break or train people to improve them. Don't go to him, don't let anyone you care about go there. While it was not a super long treatment, it made me very ill and it GREATLY exacerbated my issues around self care/trust of others/feeling worthy of not being treated like garbage. Just AWFUL.
