Dr. Jorge Leonel Macia, MD

Dr. Macia is nearing retirement and, sadly, it's quite clear he has already mentally "checked out" of practicing empathetic, quality care. His office staff are among the best stonewallers—rude, discourteous, heartless, and maddeningly unhelpful. He requires his patients to come into the office during the Pandemic regardless of the status of their health or medical issue. He will not provide video televisits; he doesn't use email or texting. Instead, he regularly brushes you off to other doctors without the courtesy of a diagnosis or even speaking to you.

I take a Rx that is a non controlled substance. Its a non narcotic, non stimulant, non addictive medication. This Rx can easily be written w multiple refills to be picked up at any pharmacy. Yet Dr Money Hungry insists its a controlled substance (even though it clearly states on the Medication Guide Attached to the bottle under section 9 that it's not) and that I must make a Dr appt every mo to see him in order to pick it up. I am a self pay patient, it costs me $90 out of pocket to pick up a free medication because Dr Macia insists on doing it this way. It is clearly unnecessary! I believe this Dr is unethical, uninformed, out of touch w modern medicine and taking his personal financial problems out on his patients.

My experience with Dr. Macia was fine. I found him to be knowledgeable with good bed side manner. I felt very comfortable with him but trying to speak with his office manager on the phone and in person is a very unpleasant experience. She is quite rude! I couldn't explain my concern, ask questions or get a word in edge wise. She literally spoke over me, disregarded and dismissed me. It was enough to make me switch dr's.

Won't refer to specialists. Doesn't care about patients especially elderly. Let my mom die in hospital. Didn't go to see her when she was critical even though he made her go to the hospital closest to him rather than the Bethesda heart hospital which was closer to her. Gave her cardeviol in am, she was dead several hours later. I blame him.

I have seeing Dr. Macia for the last 14 years. Friendly office and good doctor

I am extremely happy with Dr. Macia and his wonderful staff. anytime i need an appt I'm in within a day or two. no matter what i go there for, he is on point every time. i am amazed how i briefly tell him the problem and he knows exactly what i need. he corrected a wrong diagnosis from another doctor and got me off a serious medication that i didn't need. in my opinion he is AMAZING!.

Discharged my mother from hospital. Said she was not vital. We explained it was an acute, recent issue. Asked for ct scan. He said no. The nurses asked for an X-ray of her swollen knee. He said ok but refused to read it or change the discharge. We took my mother to another hospital. She was diagnosed with a sub-dural hematoma on the brain and had emergency surgery that night.

refuse to listen to my belief of sciatic nerve problem. turn out i need lower back surgery. saw new doctor in office who sent me to specialist and found this out.he only wants to load up patients with meds and loves the "you have diabetes" trip. does not have you prep for blood tests of 6 i have had.
