Dr. Jorge Orlando Zapata, MD

I've had some serious problems and Dr. Zapata has been an uplifting force in my medical care. He is centered and focused as an individual himself; knowledgeable and wise about the trials and tribulations of illness. He has such a great bedside manner and a fantastic sense of humor. Love this doctor and so grateful for his care.

I have seen Dr Zapata for 2 decades now. I have never had another Dr treat me with such compassion and understanding. He is understanding and caring. His competence in all OB/Gyn matters only adds to the overall trust and utter calm that I feel when I see him for appts. I have had 2 pregnancies, cervical cancer, hysterectomy, polycystic ovaries and a large ovarian cyst that were all treated under Dr Zapatas care. He is a very intelligent and empathetic man, 2 qualities that are a must with a good Dr.

I don’t usually do ratings but I wanted to warn other soon to be Mothers about Dr. Zapata so they don’t go through what I did. I took a cell free DNA test recommended by him because of my age. He called me back to come in and discuss the test. There basically was no discussion he put the results of the test up on a computer screen and told me to read it. The test read POS for Trisomy 18 Edwards syndrome. He then proceeded to tell my husband and me not to believe everything we read on the internet and gave us a print out of Trisomy 18 from Wikipedia while saying that this is not good and told us the chance of survival was almost 0. He then preceded to tell us he was referring us to UW so they could do more testing and we could make decision whether from there. First off there is no positive results with those test. It just meant I was more at risk. The test also mentioned it was mosaic Trisomy 18 which is important information he failed to mention. I had 2 weeks until I saw… the genetics counselor and it was the worst 2 weeks of my life! Luckily that got a lot better after going to UW and being educated from the worse to best case scenario. I transferred my care with them and drove the distance because I needed to after the damage Dr. zapata caused. Long story short, I had a healthy little girl and only monitored my pregnancy with ultrasounds.

Not caring and sympathetic. Rude & Disrespectful about my past choice to use naturalpathic doctors. Was not willing to discuss the symptoms I felt may have caused my multiple miscarriages. Had an air of arrogance about him. Was warned about his reputation but desperate for medical help, i ignored warning. He also gave me information I know to be inaccurate. He also told me emphatically that my hormonal imbalance did not cause my miscarriages without having done any testing. Taking my business to Seattle

The staff at the desk seems indifferent to patients. they over book and have cancelled appointments on patients after they have already arrived for their scheduled appointments due to their over booking appointments and have patients sitting waiting more than an hour after their scheduled visit. They have nothing for patients to even read in the office like most dr's offices other than medical magazines. When you have to wait up to three weeks to be seen and then told after you arrive the dr isn't in is very unfair and unprofessional.

Listens and answers all questions

Very fast service. Very clear on meaning, even if his accent is a bit strong. Excellent surgeon and doctor. I would recommend.

Dr. Zapata has been my gynecologist for over 20 years. His is truly a remarkable doctor, who I trust implicitly, a compassionate soul and a truly wonderful person. If I had one wish, it would be that he could be my primary care doctor. If I have one fear it is that he will decide to retire.

The most memorable part of being his patient is he genuinely seemed concerned, and he was blunt and honest, now adays you don't find that in a doctor, he delivered my first son back in 2003, and if I ever moved back to washington, he would be my OBGYN no doubt....He gave me a awesome almost not seen scar for my c-section, and when he had to go back in for another operation (removing a giant cyst) he took ONLY the cyst, he is that dang good!!!!

Dr. Zapata is one of the best doctors that I have ever had the pleasure to meet. He makes you feel at ease in a situation we all know can be a little uncomfortable. The only thing I wish is that he could be a primary care! P.S. he is quick and efficient in those "uncomfortable" moments...And we all appreciate that! ;)
