Dr. Jose Maavia Melia, MD

I'm 63. Dr. Melia performed surgery on my right leg after I broke it from a bicycle accident. It required a plate and pins. It was at Bellaire City Hospital in Bellaire Ohio. I was 13 then. It was 1974. I walked again because of him. He was so kind to me that I remember him to this day. My mom Pat Bennington was a nurse at this hospital then. She told me he saved my leg that they had talked about possible amputation. But I walk just fine to this day on this now old leg. Scars are all thats left over from 2 surgeries. I am forever grateful to this kind and gentle man. I wonder if he still remembers that little girl. Rosanna.

Dr. Melia was highly personable with a great bedside manner. He got right to the point, showing me my xrays and drawing me diagrams of his proposed surgery. He takes time with his patients, answering every question, and with his detailed but simple explanations, he really alleviates a lot of anxieties on the part of his patients. If you have a need for an orthopaedic surgeon, I would highly recommend Dr. Melia. His clinical experience is extremely valuable in even the most complex of orthopedic challenges. He is simply superb.
