Dr.Tarkin&his staff saved my life after a horrific crush injury at work. I was folded in half by 1020lbs. Dr.Tarkin made me feel at ease with his confident&friendly demeanor. He was able to re attatch my spine to my pelvis with a screw, all achieved thru a tiny incision on my right hip.He&his team are truly a god send. They are uber skilled&a remarkable & caring team! I fell of a ladder broke my right scapula. Went to three medical centers in Pittsburgh Pa. none of them want to do surgery they said it will heal on its own in six weeks. I now it required surgery. Finally I met Dr. Tarkin who suggest surgery right away , gave me an appointment in one week, perform the surgery. Now I have full range of motion of my arm. Thank to Dr. Tarkin.

Exceptional doctor. He treated us on a personal basis & we felt like he was someone we had known forever. He treated my son after a horrible accident & 5mths later we go in for return visits & he still makes us feel the same way the first time we met him. We were blessed to have him at the hospital when my son arrived so he could have the best service available.

My son suffered complete breaks of his tibia and fibula...through good fortune we ended up with Dr. Tarkin 2 days after the injury...surgery was performed a week later with pin and screws inserted...today marks 7 weeks since the injury and 6 weeks since surgery...my son has resumed full workouts and rehab and has begun running as well...we are both truly humbled to have been under the care of an amazing surgeon

Absolutely loved Dr. Tarkin! He did a few surgeries on my son & we couldn't of asked for a better surgeon. I wish more Dr's were like him.

I was placed in his care after physicians in another popular UPMC hospital decided that his surgical expertise was necessary to repair and replace my shattered and splintered shoulder bones.I first met him in the preoperative area. His approach was very matter of fact. After he explained the complicated nature of my injury - he informed me of possible complications. I got a brief lesson (in my foggy state of mind) of the anatomy and proposed surgical intervention he said took hours on his day off to plan. My injury occurred on a Friday and the surgery was not until the following Monday. Once he told me everything, I gladly signed the consent and placed my poor, injured arm in his care. Surgically, there were none of the complications previously explained. Post surgery, he said he and his surgical team did their very best to put my arm back together. However, he did not promise full range of motion. That part would depend largely on me and how hard I was willing to work on the… prescribed exercises. He made it clear to me that the road to recovery would not be easy and despite all efforts combined - I might end up with only half of my original shoulder functionality. He's a fantastic surgeon but I'm still early in the first stages of physical therapy, so I cannot comment on the final outcome. If you are in one of those unfortunate orthopedic circumstances that would require surgical intervention - I recommend Dr. Tarkin and his hand picked surgical team to put you in the best possible position for a positive outcome.Thank-you Dr. Tarkin!!

i was in an traumatic accident in which one of my injuries was a fractured left scapula and humerus, Dr. Tarkin said it was a crazy operation. I am very thankful for him and his surgical abilities. He did a great job, and I pretty much have full range and use of my arm only after three months of the surgery.
