Dr. Jose Jorge Rivera, MD

Has been helping me with chronic pain he does more to help me than just pain pills and I wanted to thank him for all the help he has done for me

Do not go to this Doctor! The doctor and their office staff knowingly sent lab testing to a provider outside of our network (after informed of our choices) worth over $1000 just to make money. The office will now not take our calls, calls from our insurance company, or calls from the lab testing provider. I can only imagine how many other patients have had this happen to them and just end up paying the bill. Very sad way of doing business.

Dr. Rivera is taking over a practice for a retiring physician. I told him I had taken the small quantity of anti-anxiety medication he prescribed for surgery while I stayed with my mother in Hospice. I began to get upset, she passed less than a week ago. I continued to explain I needed another prescription this month prior to my hysterectomy in 2 weeks. As I began to get upset the statement I received from Dr. Rivera was "You're tears won't work on me." I got more upset and I feel as though my grief was mocked. He admonished me while I sat there weeping -- I wish I had just walked out, but I think I was in shock. When I did leave the exam room, sobbing, the retiring Doctor saw me, hugged me and wiped my tears. I told him I wouldn't be back , I would not see Dr. Rivera again he said he wanted to call me later to talk. The office manager, who has known me for several years, was surprised to see me upset and asked what was wrong. I told her what happened and I wouldn't be back. … She said to come in when Dr. Rivera would be on vacation to talk with my retiring Doctor about what happened, then they would transfer me to a partner office. If Dr. Rivera looked at my history he would see that the number of medications & the quantity have only been reduced as other physical therapies & procedures have helped. This visit was not the event I needed as my next stop was PreOp at the hospital -- which I knew would be hard after spending so much time there prior to Hospice. Overall I felt he was callous to my feelings and I never want to (and will not) see this doctor again.

Dr Rivera is the most effective pain management physician I have found. His knowledge and manner put me at ease. After an injury, I wanted to get back to work as soon as possible. He took the time to listen and helped me find lasting pain relief without narcotics.

I am a new patient having been two visits then a procedure. My cas is complicated, however I felt he listened and asked appropiate questions. He ordered the test needed and proceeded on with treatment. He was very at tenative and the office staff are courtious and professional. He was busy, but once in his office it's seems relaxed and focuses only on you and your case. I am very happy in this fast paced world of doctors to have him
