Dr. Jose Veloso, MD

I was in ER recently. Came there for a R pain next to the liver/gallbladder and breast. Pain was so bad on the side it was just awful. Anyway, I checked in at 3:00 PM and I was released at 11:00PM. Now, this is ridiculous, Dr. Veloso was running away from answers, he was with me literally for 30 min out 7 hours. Now this is RIDICULOUS! He didnt figure out why i am in pain. He did Xray, Ultrasound, CT SCAN ( now you can imagine my bill, without insurance) Everything is noraml, Liver/gallbladder, chest, no appendicitis, kidney is perfect. So he released me with abdominal pain ( gastritis) and prescribed antibiotics . This is not ok!!! I havent got any bills yet, but i can imagine! Now good luck to anyone who will see him! No explanation at all from him!!!

If you go to the ER, make sure you understand what Level emergency the doctor is using for coding, as this can result in hundreds of dollars difference in charges. Both of my children needed stitches on different visits. I had to hold down my 2-year old as he received 7 stitches, and the doctor (a different one from the same ER group practice) only treated it as a Level 2 emergency. My 5 year-old had to wait hours to be treated, received only a few stitches for a smaller laceration, but the simple act of Dr. Veloso prescribing an antibiotic caused him to code it as a Level 3 -- $100 more charged by the doctor and $270 more by the hospital. Yes, a total of $370 more just to write a prescription! His billing office would not provide a reasonable explanation for how writing a prescription made the situation a "higher" level of emergency care and would not budge on changing their coding.
