Dr. Joseph Dominic Chabot, DO

I haven’t seen Dr Chabot since the day after my horrifying 7 hour surgery. I have been following with the NP for the last year. I had never experienced pain like that before and his comment to me was” minimally invasive surgery doesn’t mean minimally painful”. The nurses all told me his patients always have so much pain. I now have more symptoms and issues than I did before surgery. I’m upset with myself for not doing more background checking on him. I truly regret having him do my surgery, and feel traumatized by the whole experience.

Dr. Chabot did surgery on my spine after a serious car accident. In the two minutes I saw him before surgery (and that was the only time I ever saw him) all he did was brag about what an expert he was at the procedure and how he had only ever had to re-place a screw once in all the times he had performed it, and I would be up and about and maybe back to work after a couple of days. So, after 3 days in the hospital and another 11 days of inpatient rehab, I was sent home, along with several items of medical equipment that I would need just to get by. When I contacted his office to ask some questions about numbness and tingling in my legs, he refused to answer them. Follow up appointments were with his CNP. I finally graduated from a walker to a cane about 8 weeks later. It was 8 months before I was able to go back to working full time. And all of this? Because he was too arrogant and dismissive to pay attention to patient symptoms. After suffering for 9 months I consulted with another… neurosurgeon who found that Dr. Chabot had put a screw in so it was touching my spinal cord and irritating the nerves and he removed it. What a RELIEF to finally have less pain. Unfortunately it was too late to keep the neuropathy from being permanent. So, I guess that he thinks if he doesn't acknowledge that he made a mistake, it must have never happened.

Dr. Chabot performed back surgery for my husband recently. He was informative and honest about the procedure that was to be performed. He answered all questions and we proceeded through the process with little difficulty. We found him kind and sincere. His office staff was very nice and did a great job in calming our fears. We highly recommend Dr. Chabot.
