Dr. Joseph Chengthai Chen, MD

I saw dr Chen in 2013 to remove a pituitary tumor. Surgery went great and recovery was quick. Unfortunately after surgery he said he got all the tumor. For 3 yrs of MRI's he always reported back that they were clear. I met with another surgeon yesterday as dr Chen is no longer with Kaiser. Turns out dr Chen did not remove all the tumor and left a piece that has been growing for 3 yrs! I'm going to have to have another surgery to remove it.

An easy-going specialist, casual and relaxed, who took me by surprise! I didnt expect much after the first 10 mns. Yet once we got down to talking about my problem, he was phenomenal ! Extremely knowledgeable of his specialty and more. I had seen 3 prior MDs who could not explain my Dx. Yet he was extremely human and listened to me for over 20 mns at my own pace without rushing me. It was very important to him to listen to me to understand the causes. Once he did, he simply broke down and explained to me at length and in details the causes and the mechanics of the neurological issues at hand and he took the time to go beyond that and even explained the brain functions coming into it. He took as long as needed in spite of other pts waiting for him. He was with me. I was with him. That is all that seemed to matter to him at that time. Amazing MD!! Great knowledge and understanding. He then proceeded in providing treatment. I have been better ever since. Only issue is that he is so… brilliant and knowledgeable and is so set apart from the other specialists that it takes 3 ms to get an appt with him. But well worth it. A human and brilliant MD!!

Dr Chen Saved my life. He gave me all the options that were available and let me make the decision I chose the surgery I always had confidence in him. For the first time in four years I am pain free and know I will spend the rest of my life as a healthy person. Thank you dr. Chen

DR.CHEN is knowledgable and skilled. He is patient and thorough in his consultations. Patients are given concise information and in a supportive manner.

Dr Chen is a terrible doctor who should have his license stripped! He is a butcher and a liar! I would never use this doctor again, unfortunately his damage has been done. My child now has to live with lifelong permanent damage because of Dr. Chen's surgical 'skills'. If you love your child, you would take them elsewhere.
