Dr Demers made a significant difference in my life. I am forever grateful.

Horrible dr, no manners, unprofessional, talking to other medical staff but not fully explaining your condition to you, the patient, and he can mess up your eyes for life as he did for me through his surgery

I’m sure he’s a great doctor once he gets into the operating room, but his bedside manner and person skills leave something to be desired. My original Strabismus surgeon (who had done 6 other prior surgeries) recently moved out of town. But before he moved, he had already cleared me for surgery and we did the necessary pre-op labs eariler this month in preparation for it). But after his move, he referred me back up here to Dr Demer. I am still seeing double. But Dr Demer discounted my reported double vision, saying that it was really due to my scarred “corneas from my prior RK surgery” (which makes no since by covering one eye, i dont see two separate images. But he said “I’m sorry, but I can’t help you (even though Dr Velez COULD as he had done 6 times before).” Instead, he referred me to a Cornea Specialist, whom I am scheduled to see next month. So once the Cornea Specialist first RULES OUT the cause of my double vision being my corneas), i guess I will head back for a second… opinion, starting frim scratch with another Strabismus surgeon elsewhere with my surgical medical records in hand — although I would love to return to Dr Demer to report “see? I told you so.” But i think it might be better to move on to another surgeon that i can better partner with. It’s just that all of my surgeries have been done at Jules Stein.

Dr. Demer is outstanding. I feel so fortunate to have been referred to him and the UCLA health system. I did have to wait a little for my first appointment. But, he is a busy doctor and that was not an issue for me, just glad I was able to see him. The other appointments were not long to wait. The staff in his office is excellent..

Dr Demer is very knowledgeable. He is THE expert in the area of ocular motility and fibrosis syndrome. Very patient, very detail-oriented. Does his own MRI pre surgery so he knows exactly what needs to be worked on in the operating room. He has changed my son's life. We live in Illinois, and had to deal with insurance issues, but he is totally worth it!

Great Doctor.. the best! Very direct and patient. Wonderful bedside manner, and outstanding work! The only thing is the long office wait. Bring snacks, but worth it!

Dr. Demer's office obviously over books for patients. I had a 10:30am appt. My wait was over two hours! I felt like I was in some walk in clinic!

Dr Demer is a very smart, conservative doctor that I trust with my very precious eyes. I can see why people come from all over the world to be seen by him.
