Dr. Joseph Edward Engman, MD

My experience with Dr. Engman was excellent in every way. He was pleasant, precise, empathetic and was very courteous. He explained my condition and recommendations clearly . I would recommend him to anyone needing a professional .

Dr. Engman was the rudest, most abrasive Doctor I've ever met. Condescending, patronizing, petulant. I talked with his intern when he was alone to ask him why Dr. Engman was so offensive. He merely shrugged his shoulders but his eyes told me that he agreed. This Doctor is not doing Swedish Hospital any good.

This doctor was condescending and dismissive of my concerns related to rotator cuff surgery. He gave flip answers to my questions concerning after surgery issues. At one point, an intern (doctor trainee) came in the room with Dr. Engman. Engman did not introduce this other person or ask if his presence was OK with me. When Dr. Engman stepped out of the room, I asked the intern who he was. After he identified himself, I recommended that he not model himself after Engman. And told him why. He nodded his head and acknowledged that there was a lot left to be desired in Engman's bedside manner.
