It was easy to order a home sleep study from Dr. Krainin's office. The follow-up online appointment went well, and Dr. Krainin thoroughly explained to me what sleep apnea is and what my treatment options were. I was able to receive a prescription for a CPAP machine and purchase the necessary items easily. A good experience with a good doctor.

I am not a "drug-seeking loon", nor did I go "schizo" during my appt. My primary care doctor prescribes my ambien so I did NOT need him to write me a prescription. I simply found him to have a narrow mind. Diagnosing sleep apnea from a sleep study is not rocket science- I am guessing that any 1st year sleep medicine resident could have solved your problem. Great physicians find a solution when the easiest route is not the answer.

I was shocked by the last reviewer. I have been a patient of Dr. K's for over 3 years now and he is one of the finest docs I have ever encountered. He literally saved my life from a dangerous breathing disorder in my sleep. This person sounds like a drug-seeking loon who went schizo because he didn't give him/her more Ambien when all he/she needed to do was use the CPAK. I have a cousin who kept taking Ambien and refused to use the machine and one night just didn't wake up.

At my initial visit, Dr. K seemed to have a one-track mind. He did not adequately consider my entire health history/situation, nor my previous experience with using C-PAP. He was patronizing in his approach. I finally agreed to another sleep study, primarily so I would know what the currently level of my apnea was- not realizing that he could (and did) order a study that did nothing but determine what level the machine should be set at. I will say that the tech who did my sleep study seemed very competent and worked hard to find a mask that fit me. It took over 6 wks for him to review the study so I could get the C-PAP machine, and 6 mo to get a follow-up appt. The equipment staff assured me I would not be charged rent on the machine for the first 3 months which was true, but they did NOT mention that I was going to end up with a $150 co-pay simply for the mask, tubes, etc. Dr. K insisted that I go off Ambien, even though I explained to him that I had tried all other… meds and couldn't get to sleep with any of them. He offered no alternative. When I returned for a follow-up visit, having not been able to use the machine due to pain from recent injuries/surgery, and a severe cough, Dr. K. acted like he was pouting. He was vaguely dismissive of other options, and I had to repeat my willingness to continue to try to use the machine 3x before he even heard me. He then said I didn't need to make another appt. with him. He wanted the equipment girls to increase the pressure on my machine before I left. I was told at the desk that I would have to make an appt and come back, even though I had purposely ASKED for an appt with them when I scheduled my doctor's appt, and was told I did not need one. I was told that the technician was with a patient when she was, in fact, sitting in the office. When I said I would not come back, she suddenly appeared and it took her less than 30 seconds to adjust the machine. Overall I found Dr. K cocky, immature, and lacking any creativity in how to deal with a difficult health situation. I would not recommend him.

Dr. Krainin seemed to show genuine concern in helping with my sleep problems. He is easy to talk to and takes the time to listen. His style of interviewing is professional allowing me to feel heard and understood. He went beyond just prescribing and gave practical suggestions to change behaviors to help with sleep.
