Dr. Joseph Francis Mcwherter, MD

Dr. McWherter is brilliant. He not only turned my horrible menopause around he has also gotten my Hashimoto's (thyroiditis) completely under control and done more for my thyroid than any so-called endocrinologist has ever done. I cannot recommend him and the Fem Center enough! If he is not taking new patients see anyone else from the Fem Center -he sets the standard there and I know all the practioners there are excellent! It is definitely worth the wait! If anyone were to give Dr. M anything less than a 5 star review, I would never understand that- he takes more time with each patient than any dr. I have ever seen and explains things thoroughly and thoughtfully, never makes you feel like he is in a rush. He is passionate about helping his patients live their very best life! If every Dr. was like Dr. M our world would be a completely different place!

The doctor has been the only one to get my hashimotos desease under Control. He has also fine tuned my hormone and metabolism to the point I feel better than ever before. His expertise and knowledge far exceeds all other doctors , including endocreologists,,, that I have had Before. This doctor is the real deal and if we had more doctor like him we would be a much healthier place.

I had a great experience with a Thermogram, early breast cancer detection and prevention. From natural supplements to apothecary blended hormonal balancing -- I cannot say enough about Dr. McWherter and his staff. Dan, was also extremely helpful!

My mother and I have both been patients at Fem Centre Ft. Worth for years, and have been very happy with the doctors and staff... up until now. Last year my husband and I had just gotten married, and I didn't have medical insurance yet. As Fem Centre was too expensive without insurance, I got my well-woman exam done last year by another, cheaper doctor, and renewed my birth control pills through the other doctor. This year I have insurance and was excited to be going back to Fem Centre. I called about an appointment and they were booked until the 2nd week in June; but my pill prescription runs out several weeks before then. I was VERY surprised to learn that even though I have an appointment there, they would not help me by giving me an extra pill pack to tide me over till my exam. Their answer when I asked what I was supposed to do was, "Use condoms!" I couldn't believe that they wouldn't help me by giving me enough pills to tide me over until my appointment. It was rude, uncaring,… and totally unreasonable. My mother and I have cancelled our appointments and will never be going to Fem Centre again. I'm disappointed, but they showed me that even as a long-time patient, they don't regard me as an important one.

After my hysterectomy, performed by a Dr. in another practice, approximately one year passed without that Dr. Being able to get my hormones lined out. I was a wreck both physically and emotionally. Luckily I found Dr. McWherter! He is brilliant, caring, and really listens to me. I have NEVER felt like he was in a big rush with me like many doctors have made me feel in the past. He is very easy to talk to which is why I am so shocked to read unsatisfactory reviews on him. If there is something you do not like or understand, ASK him about it. Voice your concern to him! I truly believe Dr. McWherter will do whatever he can to help clarify and rectify any problem you may have concerning your care. I have been a patient for approximately 10 years. Dr. McWherter turned my life around! For that I am forever grateful! I completely trust him and would never even consider changing to another doctor. Yes, his schedule is full, but I have always been able to get in to see him in a… reasonable amount of time...even when I have been on a waiting list. In my opinion, having a full schedule indicates that he is in demand, thus indicating a doctor that people really want to see! Regarding the supplements, when I first started seeing Dr. McWherter, he recommended several to me. After awhile, I was able to discontinue taking the majority of them and he rarely asks me to take something new. If and when he does, it is for my own good...to HELP me! I am sorry some people feel as though Dr. McWherter is more concerned about making money than caring for his patients! Based on my many years of care, I highly disagree! Dr. McWherter is awesome! I highly recommend him if you are willing to follow his advice and protocol and in turn, feel better!

I have been going to Dr. McWherter for at least 7 years. I think he is amazing. Always thinking outside the box, looking for new ways to help his patients. I trust him. He is difficult to get in to see, but it is because he is in demand. Believe me, he is worth the wait. I do agree that his staff on occasion has an attitude, but I'm there to see Dr. McWherter, not his staff.

I had to wait a year to get my first appointment but well worth the wait. He turned my menopausal life around. I have now been going to the FemCenter for 6 years and highly recommend Dr. McWherter.

I have found Dr McWherter and Gayla his Nurse Practitioner to be wonderful in caring for my health.

Brilliant doctor you won't be able to see. Impossible to get an appointment with Dr. McWherter. If your lucky you might get in to see him however, You will more than likely be referred to one of his associates.

I am extremely disappointed in the poor quality of care and even worse management of this facility. There is an overall lack of communication, follow through,& general professionalism.They will inconvenience the patient...difficult to get convenient appointment, long waits, returns for mishaps, all at the patient's expense...and they take no accountability. However, I have never seen any physician's office be so diligent in billing for a "missed appointment", Due to a lack of communication or courtesy an appointment that I did not recall "rescheduling" resulted in a "missed appointment fee". I have never seen any business be so vigilant in their threats to collect for this fee. If they put as much energy into courteous, caring and professional interactions with their patients, they may find their underhanded henchmen-like bill collection practices are unnecessary. One rarely sees a physician and there is a feeling of being rushed and pushed hard to buy their supplements. Dr… McWherter may have been ahead of the pack at some point, but selling out to practicing in a way that seems like greed and gluttony are the prevailing values has made the thought of going back to his office highly improbable. The idea of the care Fem Centre promotes is great. The reality falls short. In fact they are way off the mark. I won't go back.
